- A bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, with eligibility for an appropriate certification examination; alternatively, an associate's degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology with certification; graduation from a military program in health science, biology, chemical science, physical science, or medical technology with certification; or grandfathered Medical Technologist status with current certification.
- Certification as a Medical Technologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or Clinical Laboratory Scientist through an acceptable certifying agency, where required by the applicable education route.
- At least one year of experience in a clinical laboratory.
- Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
- Must submit to a color-acuity screening test.
- Develop and monitor test systems.
- Perform and interpret laboratory tests for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
