Blissway is a startup that simplifies toll collection and dramatically improves highway safety. We are multiple startups in one: Deep Tech, AI/ML, Hardware, SaaS, and IoT. For the past five years, we have built a nearly insurmountable technological lead in tolling, a roughly $200B global industry expected to double in the next decade. We work for toll authorities and state DOTs, and we own the whole system, from the roadside camera to the final bill, so every vehicle we see becomes one accurate toll transaction and nothing more. While our competitors have thousands of employees, we operate with a lean but growing team of less than 30. Our impact is visible on the massive Interstate Highway System connecting every major US metro (except Juneau, AK—sorry, Juneau).

The Mission

Our technological lead depends on hiring exceptional engineers. You will own the machine that finds them, moves them through our process, and converts them into great hires. This is an individual contributor role that will shape how we hire. You'll work directly with our founders and engineering leaders, and your ideas will change how we find and close great people.

• Run the Engine: Own day-to-day recruiting operations across engineering and operations searches: pipeline management, scheduling, and candidate communication.

• Keep the System Sharp: Run our Ashby instance day to day. Maintain automations, stages, scorecards, and reporting, and flag what's slowing the team down.

• Experiment and Measure: Track the funnel end to end. Run experiments to improve work trial conversion, speed, and candidate quality, and report what you learn.

• Apply the Bar: Use our candidate profile and screening framework to triage applicants accurately, and help sharpen it as we learn from every hire.

• Represent Blissway: You are often a candidate's first impression of us. Tell our story well, manage agency partners, and make every candidate want to join, even the ones we don't hire.

• You communicate clearly: In writing and in person, you get to the point. Candidates, hiring managers, and agency partners always know where things stand and what happens next.

• You see recruiting as a science: You treat a hiring process as a system you can test. You form a hypothesis, change one thing, measure it, and keep what works. You're comfortable with numbers and let data, not gut feel, settle debates. "We've always done it this way" bothers you.

• You are detail obsessed: You run many searches, stakeholders, and candidates at once, and nothing falls through the cracks. You keep projects on track across multiple stakeholders and deadlines. Candidates feel cared for even when you're moving fast.

• You know Ashby: You have at least 6 months of hands-on Ashby experience beyond using it as a recruiter. You've built interview plans, set up automations, pulled reports, and fixed things when they broke.

• You have technical foundations: You don't need to be an engineer, but you're curious about how engineers work and fluent enough to earn their respect. You're comfortable with automations, integrations, and AI tools, and you'd rather build a workflow than repeat a task.

• You value working together in person: You’re excited to work alongside the team at our Denver office. This role is in-office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, with flexibility to work remotely on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Interview Process

We're a selectively small team, which means a deliberate and thorough interview process with 3-4 interviews and a final paid work trial. In exchange, you get real autonomy from day one and direct access to the people setting the company direction.
