Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sustainability, or a related field, followed by five years of progressively responsible experience with sustainability management or consulting in public agencies.
  • Four years and six months of experience building optimized approaches to greenhouse gas emissions quantification based on client or organizational goals, available data, and constraints.
  • Five years of experience conducting technical studies related to air quality impact and mitigation assessment, greenhouse gas emissions inventory and mitigation development, climate action planning, health risk assessments, and noise impact and mitigation assessments for public agencies, private development projects, and public works projects.
  • Five years of experience developing and presenting technical environmental analyses to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Two years of experience with survey development.
  • Two years of experience with lifecycle assessments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how greenhouse gas emissions impact the environment through their complex chemistry with the direct environment, and of the importance of quantifying greenhouse gas emissions to mitigate them over time.
Responsibilities
  • Develop or improve client greenhouse gas emissions inventories and related quantification efforts.
  • Build client-facing, user-friendly tools that integrate activity data and quantification processes to generate emissions results.
  • Lead multiple lifecycle analyses quantifying greenhouse gas emissions tied to facilities, products, or projects and broken down by lifecycle stage from material extraction to end of life.
  • Assess and review current and proposed federal or state regulations and policies related to greenhouse gas emissions mitigation.
  • Provide comments and recommendations on proposed rulemaking based on literature reviews or data analyses.
  • Develop technical analyses to support or document the impact of state-level policies on greenhouse gas emissions and develop related emissions projections over time.
  • Assess and document additional costs or benefits of adopting greenhouse gas mitigation policies.
  • Provide recommendations on medium- and long-term planning of greenhouse gas mitigation strategies based on developed analyses.
  • Plan, manage, and conduct technical studies related to air quality impact and mitigation assessment, greenhouse gas emissions inventory and mitigation development, climate action planning, health risk assessments, and noise impact and mitigation assessments for public agencies, private development projects, and public works projects.
  • Assist clients with offset and carbon credit projects.
  • Help clients assess market options for carbon credits and offsets based on location, industry or field, and operations, and recommend pathways to generate credits.
  • Help clients understand sustainability metrics and establish medium- to long-term sustainability planning strategies based on actionable and measurable steps.
  • Support clients' materiality assessment processes by identifying applicable frameworks, developing survey tools, conducting stakeholder engagement, compiling results, and building materiality matrices and other visuals for environmental, social, and governance planning.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and others.
  • Support client meetings by providing technical expertise.
  • Develop client training programs.
  • Communicate with clients regarding deliverables.
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative analyses of policy proposals to support government rulemaking.
  • Provide technical input on implementation of major policies, including the Clean Air Act, Montreal Protocol, and Paris Agreement.
  • Engage with experts, stakeholders, and private industry members to support research and analytical tasks, document takeaways and insights from the engagement, and explain how they influenced outputs or analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports based on literature searches, technical analyses, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage and analyze environmental performance data, including greenhouse gas emissions, energy, water, and waste utility consumption and costs.
  • Benchmark environmental performance and monitor and interpret performance trends.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and other outputs for organizations to compile and track environmental data.
  • Evaluate greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental indicators over medium- to long-term periods.
  • Assess the financial, social, and environmental metrics an organization can use to track progress.
  • Act as a project manager for technically complex projects and deliverables.
  • Supervise technical support staff's work products.
