Requirements
  • An Associate degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent experience with automated control systems, including installing and programming programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, gas measurement, pressure and flow control, and gas quality.
  • Five years of experience directly related to natural gas facilities, such as gas measurement, gas quality, pressure and flow control, compressor station maintenance, and control systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and direct implementation of electrical and instrumentation drawings, piping and instrumentation flow diagrams, and piping equipment drawings.
  • Understanding of reciprocating and turbine engines, flow control, and gas quality.
  • Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and construction practices relating to pipeline operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a scheduled, structured, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to travel greater than 75% by automobile and plane.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed and overtime with minimal prior notice.
  • Ability to work in an open office environment and outside in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to work independently, provide direction to others, and collaborate successfully across the organization.
  • Experience communicating data and concepts understandably to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all commissioning aspects of capital projects.
  • Implement control systems, electronic flow measurement, programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, and supervisory control and data acquisition systems for natural gas projects.
  • Program, modify, audit, diagnose, test, and debug programmable logic controllers and flow computers, including recommendations for measurement, reliability, storage, and operations.
  • Provide design, equipment specifications, project scope, estimates, and justifications for capital projects.
  • Check engineering drawings and mathematical calculations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in automation, programmable logic controllers, distributed control systems, supervisory control and data acquisition and human-machine interfaces, electrical design, and instrumentation design.
  • Configure and program process control systems, safety instrumented systems, fire and gas systems, and engine control systems, including code development, hardware specification, and graphics development or modification.
  • Maintain knowledge of flow computers, telecommunications equipment, engine and motor controls, and current technologies to enhance company applications.
  • Audit fabrication shops and on-site installations to ensure meter skids, gas chromatograph buildings, motor control center buildings, programmable logic controller panels, engine upgrades, dehydration facilities, and compression facilities comply with company engineering designs and specifications.
  • Collect and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to determine design or application feasibility.
  • Perform optimization, troubleshooting, and feasibility studies.
  • Provide specialized support and guidance to technical, operations, and information technology personnel to ensure safety and reliability of natural gas compression, measurement, storage, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Lead the development and implementation of technical standards.
  • Research and analyze technical data, industry specifications and standards, and vendor manuals to determine design or application feasibility.
  • Maintain industry standards and regulations applicable to the American Gas Association, Federal Communications Commission, National Electrical Code, Department of Transportation, American National Standards Institute, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other relevant regulations.
  • Coach and mentor employees on technical skills and work-related tasks.
  • Represent management in coordinating activities and communicating technical policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in the development, guidance, and oversight of company staff.
  • Advise and participate in technical presentations to management.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Controls or Automation.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology with an emphasis on communication systems or electronics, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience with compressor station maintenance, electronic measurement, communications, programmable logic controllers, and supervisory control and data acquisition equipment used in natural gas transmission.
