Requirements
  • Two years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of infection control and hygiene principles and the ability to implement this knowledge in daily practice.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety as it relates to the role within the facility.
  • Understanding of the quality improvement process and risk management obligations.
  • Demonstrated skills in food preparation and presentation.
  • Office skills, including filing and answering telephone enquiries.
Responsibilities
  • Answer the switchboard in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner.
  • Perform general clerical and administrative tasks, including filing, minute taking, and agenda creation.
  • Disperse and reconcile petty cash.
  • Maintain levels of and order general office supplies.
  • Book and maintain patient transport.
  • Assist with the quality improvement program.
  • Handle holiday patient enquiries and coordinate holiday patient applications when required.
  • Create and maintain the patient newsletter.
  • Admit and discharge patients within a centralized billing system.
  • Ensure all necessary forms for new patients are completed and correctly loaded into the centralized billing system.
  • Conduct eligibility checks on all new patients with their private health fund.
  • Prepare invoices and credit notes in relation to revenue generation.
  • Prepare and collate supporting documentation to accompany invoices.
  • Undertake banking procedures for cheque and cash payments.
  • Prepare and maintain an accurate records management system for patient records.
  • Prepare and maintain reconciliation records.
  • Ensure cleanliness and neatness of the patient treatment area, stockroom, and medical devices according to clinic procedure.
  • Assist with collecting and distributing basic food preparation and nutritional requirements to patients and visitors, including ordering.
  • Maintain consumable stock levels in the stockroom and trolleys for daily clinic operations.
  • Restock consumables in the stockroom and trolleys for daily clinic operations.
  • Manage ordering of stock and consumables for clinic operations.
  • Confirm stock deliveries, cross-check inventory against documentation, and forward the monthly stock take to the Purchasing Officer.
  • Maintain the Clinical Manager database.
  • Ensure routine collection and appropriate disposal of linen, rubbish, and contaminated waste.
  • Coordinate collection of blood samples by the pathology laboratory and help spin blood before collection.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities as required by the Dialysis Clinic Manager.
  • Promote a safe, secure, and healthy working environment for staff and a comfortable, safe environment for visitors and patients in accordance with the Workplace Health and Safety policy.
  • Engage in internal and external in-service activities to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge.
