Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire; Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Candidates must have knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Candidates must be familiar with medical office procedures.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry 25 pounds, frequent sitting and standing, frequent keyboard use, and patient-care activities such as kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation as applicable.
  • For internal Einstein applicants, Medical Assistant certification is not required for current Einstein employees in a current Medical Assistant role hired before July 1, 2024, when transferring within Einstein entities.
Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians as they assess, examine, and treat patients.
  • Manage patient flow.
  • Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure proper patient identification.
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
  • Remain proficient and knowledgeable in the use and documentation requirements of information technology systems within the established scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform electrocardiograms, venipuncture, and injections in the office using appropriate skills to provide quality patient care.
  • Act as a liaison to physicians to help ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Adhere to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act privacy and security requirements.
  • Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting is preferred.
  • For New Jersey positions, graduation from an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program is preferred/required, including at least 330 hours of instruction and training in administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
