Neocloud stocks fall as Microsoft's $45.2B capex misses $50.7B estimate

Shares of neocloud companies fell in extended trading after Microsoft reported lower-than-expected capital expenditure. CoreWeave and Nebius slid almost 5%, and IREN fell about 3%. Microsoft posted $45.2 billion in capex and finance leases for the quarter, up about 30% from a year earlier. Analysts had expected an average of $50.7 billion, according to StreetAccount. The figure suggests infrastructure partners are taking longer to deliver data centre capacity. Microsoft relies heavily on neoclouds, including a nearly $20 billion deal with Nebius. Azure revenue rose 48%. Alphabet's capex also missed, at $51.36 billion against an expected $55.09 billion. CoreWeave closed Wednesday at $63.93.

CoreWeave expands Global AI cloud platform with new capacity in Denmark and first Global AI Network backbone.

CoreWeave expands Global AI cloud platform with new capacity in Denmark and first Global AI Network backbone. Expansion brings additional AI computing capacity online in Europe and extends CoreWeave's high-performance global network to support customers building and scaling AI worldwide LONDON-(BUSINESS WIRE)-CoreWeave, Inc. (Nasdaq: CRWV), The Essential Cloud for AI(TM), today announced an expansion of its global AI cloud platform, bringing new computing capacity online in Denmark and extending its Global AI Network into the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The expansion strengthens CoreWeave's ability to deliver the performance, reliability, and connectivity customers need to build and scale AI workloads across international markets. As AI workloads move into production across more industries and geographies, customers need computing capacity where they operate and the ability to move large volumes of data securely and efficiently between regions. CoreWeave is expanding both capabilities as part of its fully integrated, purpose-built AI cloud platform, reducing the infrastructure complexity that can slow AI development and deployment. With this expansion, CoreWeave is building the first global AI backbone network, purpose-built for AI workloads, at Petabit-scale, that connects locations in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. "Our customers need more than access to computing capacity. They need infrastructure that performs reliably at scale and the ability to move data and workloads wherever their business requires," said Sachin Jain, chief operating officer of CoreWeave. "We're expanding our global infrastructure and the network connecting it together, so customers can focus on building and improving AI rather than managing the complexity underneath it." CoreWeave has brought the majority of its planned 22.5 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity online at atNorth's DEN01 data center in Copenhagen, marking its first deployment in Denmark. DEN01 has a heat reuse agreement in place to supply surplus heat to the district heating network, reducing reliance on alternative heating sources and contributing to Denmark's green transition. Accelerated by NVIDIA Blackwell systems connected with NVIDIA Quantum-X800 InfiniBand, the facility expands CoreWeave's European infrastructure footprint to nine data centers across five geographies, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, and Norway. "Modern workloads demand digital infrastructure that is not only high performance, but also energy efficient and responsibly operated, "said Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO at atNorth. "By partnering with atNorth, CoreWeave gains access to DEN01's infrastructure, designed for GPU-intensive processing, while supporting renewable energy development through power purchase agreements and helping warm local homes through heat reuse, contributing to the green transition." To connect its growing international infrastructure footprint, CoreWeave is extending its global AI network backbone with new points of presence in the United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, Korea and Japan, beginning later in the fourth quarter of 2026 and extending to a full loop in mid-2027. The expansion will extend CoreWeave's existing network across North America and Europe into four continents, providing customers with more direct connectivity to its AI cloud platform. Purpose-built for AI workloads, CoreWeave's backbone combines multiple 400 gigabit-per-second connections at each point of presence, hardware-based MACsec encryption to protect data in transit, and redundant network paths designed to maintain performance and reliability across regions. Together, these capabilities enable customers to move large datasets and access computing infrastructure without sacrificing the speed or security their workloads require. The expansion follows CoreWeave's recent announcements in Indonesia and India, reflecting continued investment in the infrastructure needed to support AI development and deployment globally. CoreWeave operated 51 data centers worldwide with more than 1.5 gigawatts of active power as of June 30, 2026 and had approximately 4.2 gigawatts of contracted power as of its August 11, 2026 earnings call. CoreWeave consistently delivers industry-leading performance, demonstrated by record-breaking MLPerf benchmark results in inference and training and its position as the only AI cloud to earn the top Platinum ranking in SemiAnalysis ClusterMAX(TM) three times in a row. About CoreWeave CoreWeave is The Essential Cloud for AI(R). CoreWeave expands its AI infrastructure in Europe.

CoreWeave expands its AI infrastructure in Europe. Nine data centers in Europe and a global AI network currently under development. CoreWeave is expanding its cloud platform with NVIDIA Blackwell systems and plans to add more new network nodes. News by Marc Nemitz · London, 27. October 2026 CoreWeave, a U.S.-based AI cloud provider, is expanding its computing capacity with a new location in Denmark while also investing in a global high-performance network. The infrastructure is designed to connect data centers across four continents and make it easier for companies to access powerful AI resources. CoreWeave, a cloud provider specializing in artificial intelligence, is driving forward the international expansion of its infrastructure. The Nasdaq-listed company has brought additional computing capacity online in Denmark and plans to build a global network specifically designed to meet the demands of large-scale AI applications. In addition to North America and Europe, locations in the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region are also set to be integrated in the future. With this expansion, CoreWeave is responding to the growing demand for computing power for the training and productive use of AI models. Companies increasingly require high-performance GPU infrastructures as well as fast and secure connections between different data center regions. CoreWeave is therefore pursuing an integrated approach in which computing capacity and international data connections are expanded in tandem. This will enable customers to transfer large volumes of data between locations and operate AI applications across multiple regions. New location in Denmark expands European capacity. A key component of this expansion is the DEN01 data center operated by infrastructure provider atNorth in Copenhagen. CoreWeave has already brought the majority of the planned 22.5 megawatts of IT capacity online there. This is the company's first location in Denmark. The facility uses GPU systems based on the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, which are interconnected via NVIDIA Quantum-X800 InfiniBand. This technology is specifically designed for computationally intensive applications such as training large AI models. With the new facility, CoreWeave's European infrastructure expands to nine data centers across five countries or regions. In addition to Denmark, the company already has a presence in the United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, and Norway. Energy efficiency also plays a role at this location. The data center has an agreement to utilize excess waste heat, which will be fed into the local district heating network. This allows some of the heat generated during operations to be used to supply households. Global AI network to connect four continents. In parallel with the expansion of its computing capacity, CoreWeave is developing its own international network designed to transmit large volumes of data for AI applications. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2026, additional network nodes are scheduled to be established in the United Arab Emirates, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, and Japan. By mid-2027, the company plans to have a continuous network structure in place connecting four continents. According to the company, the network is expected to enable data transfers in the petabit range in the long term. At each connection point, multiple lines, each with a capacity of 400 gigabits per second, are planned. Hardware-based encryption and redundant connections are designed to ensure security and reliability. "Our customers need more than just access to computing capacity. They need an infrastructure that functions reliably even on a large scale." Sachin Jain, Chief Operating Officer of CoreWeave These investments underscore the growing importance of specialized infrastructure in the competition for AI cloud services. In addition to the sheer availability of high-performance graphics processing units, international data connections and the geographic distribution of computing capacity are becoming increasingly important. As of June 30, 2026, CoreWeave operated 51 data centers worldwide with an active power capacity of more than 1.5 gigawatts. In August, the company estimated its contractually secured capacity at approximately 4.2 gigawatts. CoreWeave was founded in 2017 and has been listed on the Nasdaq since March 2025. By expanding its infrastructure, the company is positioning itself as a specialized cloud provider for AI developers, startups, and large enterprise customers.
