Requirements
  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience in audio, video, or collaboration hardware and software development.
  • Direct prior experience at a company that designed, built, and certified Microsoft Teams and/or Zoom conferencing devices.
  • Deep, current knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Zoom device certification programs, hardware specifications, and platform requirements.
  • Strong architectural background across audio and video signal chains, including USB Video Class, HDMI/HDCP, camera image signal processor pipelines, video codecs, USB Audio Class, digital signal processing, acoustic echo cancellation, noise suppression, Bluetooth audio, Session Initiation Protocol, Real-time Transport Protocol, Real-time Transport Control Protocol, and Power over Ethernet.
  • Working knowledge of control-system integration, including RS-232, Internet Protocol control, and third-party control-system ecosystems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Windows IoT, Windows for Teams Rooms, and Android platform integration under Microsoft's Device Ecosystem Platform.
  • Demonstrated experience defining hardware and software requirements from certification specifications.
  • Proven ability to operate as a technical consultant or advisor across engineering, quality assurance, and product management functions.
  • Experience presenting architecture and technical tradeoffs to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
  • Continuously track Microsoft Teams and Zoom platform, hardware, and certification specifications and translate changes into impacts on hardware and software roadmaps.
  • Lead the specification and design of end-to-end system architectures across audio, video, and control subsystems for products interoperable with unified communications platforms.
  • Establish and document hardware and software requirements that satisfy Teams and Zoom certification programs, customer needs, and internal product goals.
  • Provide technical input into product-management decisions, including feature tradeoffs, roadmap sequencing, and platform-investment priorities.
  • Translate customer requirements and use cases into actionable direction for development teams and engineering leadership.
  • Provide guidance to engineering and quality assurance on certification test requirements and, when needed, own and lead Teams and Zoom certification submissions and laboratory engagements from planning through sign-off.
  • Act as a technical consultant to design and engineering teams, reviewing architecture and design decisions for compliance, performance, and manufacturability.
  • Provide architectural guidance across audio and video subsystems and working knowledge of control-system integration.
  • Guide integration efforts for Windows-based and Android-based platforms under the Microsoft Device Ecosystem Platform while ensuring compliance with original equipment manufacturer certification requirements.
  • Help define broader solution- and system-level test plans beyond individual certification requirements.
  • Influence, mentor, and guide engineers across the organization without formal direct reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience leading or participating in formal Teams and/or Zoom certification laboratory engagements.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux platforms in collaboration endpoints.
  • Experience with broader unified communications solution testing beyond individual device certification, including multi-device, room-scale, or interoperability testing.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead without formal management authority.
  • Familiarity with USB Implementers Forum, HDMI Forum, and Bluetooth Special Interest Group specifications relevant to audio/video peripherals.
