  • A Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a similar degree is required.
  • Graduation from a college or university accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education is required.
  • An unrestricted state license, registration, or certification to provide healthcare within the scope of practice for Athletic Trainers is required.
  • A passing score from the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer is required.
  • A National Provider Identifier is required.
  • Five years of relevant Athletic Training work experience is required.
  • Experience working with active populations such as military, high school, collegiate, professional sports, performing arts, or occupational health is required.
  • Experience developing and executing environment-specific functional injury control and health and well-being programs for groups of athletes is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The selected candidate must successfully complete applicable pre-employment screening, credentialing, suitability, federal contract, client, and site-access requirements.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and manipulate loads or weights up to 20 kilograms or 45 pounds.
  • The role requires a 40-hour workweek and/or 80 hours within a two-week period, with schedules subject to change for training events and operational needs.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Brigade Lead Athletic Trainer and principal advisor to the Injury Control Director on basic acute care, injury control, reconditioning, and performance optimization.
  • Coordinate with the Brigade Holistic Health and Fitness Strength and Conditioning team, master Fitness Trainers, and Brigade Command Sergeant Major to support unit training programs.
  • Ensure education, instruction, and guidance for Soldiers and Brigade leadership are synchronized with the Brigade training calendar.
  • Develop and organize an Athletic Trainer overview briefing with the Athletic Training team for newly in-processing Soldiers.
  • Ensure safe and effective equipment operation, track supplies, and report deficiencies or needs to the Brigade Program Director.
  • Complete a monthly status report emphasizing recommendations, best practices, and lessons learned.
  • Attend and participate in meetings with Brigade leadership as requested or required, and review meeting information when absent.
  • Prepare and submit reports requested by the Brigade Program Director or Injury Control Director/clinical supervisor.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned units at the brigade, battalion, or company level.
  • Provide forward musculoskeletal care, early medical intervention, injury prevention, and performance optimization services in fitness centers, unit areas, outdoor settings, ranges, field training environments, and the Soldier Performance Readiness Center.
  • Partner with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and Cognitive Performance Specialists to support Holistic Health and Fitness and brigade mission objectives.
  • Deliver prevention-focused care, acute injury management, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Implement performance optimization strategies addressing the physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual Holistic Health and Fitness domains.
  • Support improvements in Soldier performance, Army Combat Fitness Test pass rates, and unit resilience.
  • Observe brigade and subordinate-unit training events such as shooting ranges, obstacle courses, and combative training.
  • Prepare, teach, and share educational materials to reduce and mitigate injuries and increase Soldier performance.
  • Maintain adequate patient-care documentation using proprietary healthcare and government software.
  • Participate in government-based education and installation-mandated in-service training.
  • Complete continuing education required for Athletic Trainer license or certification renewal.

  • Past staff administration or management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high school, collegiate, or professional sports, military, performing arts, and/or occupational health is desirable.
