Responsibilities
  • Provide logistics support to the F-15 Division.
  • Apply acquisition logistics philosophy, policies, and procedures to United States Air Force systems, subsystems, and equipment procurement activities, post-award project and program management tasks, and acquisition programs throughout their life cycles.
  • Coordinate logistics elements, including spares, support equipment, training, facilities, technical data, and provisioning, to identify and tailor integrated logistics support requirements to the F-15 Division's needs.
  • Develop long-term weapon-system supportability approaches that advance Government acquisition strategy goals and objectives.
  • Obtain required logistics resources and participate in site surveys.
  • Analyze sustainment and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages issues and recommend suitable replacements.
  • Perform Source of Repair Assignment analyses, use related database templates, coordinate with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center assignment, and participate in supporting business-case-analysis documentation.
  • Identify and support Source of Repair Assignment requirements and actions.
  • Compile and complete the depot maintenance interservice study.
  • Generate and review logistics support documentation, including Integrated Logistics Support Plans, Life Cycle Sustainment Plans, Technical Orders, Country Standard Technical Orders, Technical Manuals, Electronic Technical Manuals, Illustrated Parts Breakdowns, and work specifications.
  • Participate in integrated logistics support management team meetings, Program Management Reviews, and related meetings.
  • Support the Parts and Repair Ordering System and the Federal Logistics Data system.
  • Support the Defense Transportation System, Supply Discrepancy Report, and Quality Deficiency Report processes.

  • Review, track, and monitor verification and delivery of engineering and technical data; identify manual requirements; and arrange printing and distribution of Technical Orders, data, and updates.
  • Identify, review, and analyze deficiencies and Engineering Change Proposals for the F-15 weapon system and associated contracts.
  • Review deficiency reports and assist with root-cause analysis of supply-chain problems and improvement opportunities.
  • Review recommended Technical Order changes and Engineering Dispositions, assess supply-chain impacts, and provide inputs to integrated logistics support managers, program managers, and fleet managers.
  • Track and monitor Time Compliance Technical Orders or commercial equivalents.

  • Use United States Air Force supply-chain knowledge and applicable systems, including the Department of Defense Electronic Mall, D200 Requirements Data Bank, and D043 Master Item Inventory Control System, to provide supply-system support.
  • Ensure supply systems are supported and procedures follow United States Air Force guidance.
  • Capture and record pertinent supply data and participate in supply studies, data collection, parts verification, supportability analyses, and parts or maintenance reviews at salvage locations when directed.
  • Participate in process-improvement activities, Integrated Product Team meetings, stand-up meetings, logistics reviews, Program Management Reviews, and other workload-related meetings.

  • Track and maintain the depot activation Integrated Master Schedule.
  • Accomplish Source of Repair Assignment process changes directed by core activation requirements.
  • Review Logistics Support Analysis documentation for recommended changes to source-maintenance recoverability codes between depot and field levels of repair.
  • Assess the availability of technical documentation, support equipment, and skills required to perform repairs at the requested level.
  • Report results directly to the Government and document them in monthly status reports.

Anduril is unhappy that it did not land spots in both portions of a $1.5 billion Homeland Security Department contract for counter-unmanned aircraft systems. The company won a position as one of the comprehensive service providers in track two, but did not receive an award in track one for hardware/software and ancillary services. Anduril is challenging DHS' evaluation of its proposal and argues that it should have received awards for both tracks of the five-year C-UAS vehicle, awarded earlier this month. Track one winners are BAE Systems, CACI International, Dedreone Defense, D-Fend Solutions, EMS Defense Technologies, Fortem Technologies and Leidos. Anduril's competitors in track two are Astrion, BAE, Booz Allen Hamilton, General Dynamics IT, Leidos and Parsons Corp. DHS received 57 offers for track one and 47 for track two. Bidders could pursue both tracks if they wanted to. Anduril filed its protest on Aug. 12. A Government Accountability Office decision is due by Nov. 20.

Astrion makes $75K donation to UAH for radio waves test facility. A donation from a Huntsville aerospace and defense company to the University of Alabama in Huntsville is expected to pay off for students and the city, UAH officials said. Astrion recently awarded $75,000 to UAH's College of Science to support the school's anechoic chamber initiative, a facility where students will test antennas, sensors and radio frequency (RF) systems that underpin modern defense and aerospace capabilities. The hands-on facility will help prepare students for the workforce through their experience in testing environments similar to those used by defense contractors and government agencies. "Astrion's support will allow us to train the next generation of RF scientists and engineers," said Dr. Roderick Davidson, research assistant professor in the Department of Physics. "The students working on these projects will fuel innovation in this field throughout Huntsville." Astrion Chairman and CEO Tom Vice said the donation reinforces the company's belief that building mission advantage and strengthening national security begins long before a mission starts, in local classrooms and research labs. An anechoic chamber is a testing space engineered and designed to absorb reflections of sound or electromagnetic waves. An RF anechoic chamber is lined with specialized foam pyramids to absorb incoming radio waves rather than reflecting them back. The room is protected against outside interference, such as from cell phones and wireless networks. By eliminating external noise and internal reflections, the chamber allows researchers to test electronics, sensors, and radar systems under pristine conditions. "The growing partnership with Astrion fully aligns with our strategic priorities of serving our community and connecting our students with partners," says College of Science Dean Dr. Rainer Steinwandt. "I am very grateful to Tom Vice and his team for the scientific opportunities that this gift creates for our students and faculty."

NASA ends its CAPSTONE missions, but the spacecraft flies on. The experimental craft successfully tested a near-rectilinear halo orbit between Earth and Moon gravities for future missions. At a glance. * CAPSTONE became the first spacecraft to successfully fly in a near-rectilinear halo orbit. * The mission validated navigation technology and software for future lunar missions. * Advanced Space will operate future CAPSTONE missions. An experimental spacecraft launched in June 2022 set out in a near-rectilinear halo orbit (NRHO) balanced between the gravities of Earth and the Moon. NASA's Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology and Navigational Experiment, known as CAPSTONE, was the first to travel in such an orbit, and it has since "validated a dynamic orbit around the Moon to pave the way for a lunar space station or other orbital operations," Luke Idziak, spacecraft systems project manager for Astrion, told Design News at Space Tech Expo. Part of CAPSTONE's job was to validate software and navigation technology for future missions, and according to NASA, the spacecraft met all primary and extended mission objectives. NASA therefore wrapped up its work on CAPSTONE in June, but the craft will continue in orbit to provide risk reduction and demonstration for future missions, according to the space agency. Its orbit could help identify a future path for Gateway, a Moon-orbiting outpost in NASA's Artemis program. Astrion employees have been working at NASA Ames Research Center to support the programmatic and oversight tasks of the STMD Small Spacecraft & Distributed Systems office at Ames and help to allow missions like CAPSTONE to be possible, Idziak tells Design News. "Astrion employees are integral to supporting most of the spaceflight missions developed at NASA Ames and work side by side with our civil servant partners on ensuring successful spacecraft integration, launch, and operation," he says. CAPSTONE's achievements were highlighted at Space Tech Expo. The spacecraft completed its original mission in 2023, achieving the following: * First successful spacecraft insertion into an NRHO. * Verified characteristics of a cislunar NRHO for future spacecraft. * Characterized cislunar communications behavior for small spacecraft. * Provided operational experience for autonomy, fault management, and recovery. * Validated small-satellite propulsion, altitude determination and control, and system reliability in deep space. * Established a foundation for commercial support of future lunar operations. Its expanded mission completed in May 2026 demonstrated: * Use of a software-defined satellite with modular software architecture that enhances CAPSTONE's ability to serve as a testbed for other software demonstrations. * Enables new experiments without launching new missions. * Real-time image processing of the Moon, Earth, and other bodies as well as one- and two-way ranging from NASA's Deep Space Network stations. * Autonomous onboard maneuver planning for maintenance of CAPSTONE's orbit in the NRHO. * Delayed tolerant networking for real-time file upload/download to/from CAPSTONE Having achieved these goals, CAPSTONE "will stay in space with any future operations passing from NASA to the operator company Advanced Space," Idziak says. Astrion selects Icertis AI platform to speed federal contracting and compliance

Astrion, a government contractor, has selected Icertis's AI-native contract intelligence platform to unify contracts, procurement and post-award administration. The move aims to reduce contract cycle times and strengthen regulatory compliance as Astrion manages federal work. Following a merger of three government services firms, Astrion needed a scalable solution to handle its expanded contract portfolio. The Icertis platform will help maintain FAR/DFARS compliance, automate workflows, improve financial oversight and create a standardised contracting foundation for future acquisitions. The platform integrates with Microsoft Azure Government and SAM.gov, enabling government contractors to strengthen regulatory oversight whilst operating with greater agility.
