ChargePoint and Eaton help transition Santa Monica's electric bus fleet. ChargePoint and Eaton are working with the City of Santa Monica on their transition of its bus fleet. Yet today, it is taking another major step toward cleaner public transportation. Electric buses cannot simply pull into a depot and charge whenever they want. Instead, operators need to coordinate charging with route schedules, electricity demand and available charging capacity. ChargePoint shares rose 7% to $9.70 on Friday, extending a two-day rally to 8%, as CEO Rick Wilmer called the surge "the beginning of the momentum". EVgo gained 2% whilst Blink Charging remained flat, suggesting the move is company-specific rather than sector-wide. ChargePoint reported Q2 revenue of $116 million, beating guidance and up 18% year-over-year. The company posted a record 38% gross margin, though this included a one-time tariff refund. Adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed to $4.8 million from $22 million the previous year. The rally comes as the Global X Autonomous & Electric Vehicles ETF gained 0.6% whilst the broader S&P 500 declined 0.4%, isolating ChargePoint's 68% weekly surge as a company-specific reappraisal.

ChargePoint Holdings saw its stock surge 70% following second-quarter fiscal 2027 results that exceeded guidance. Revenue rose 18% year-over-year to $116.1 million, with networked charging revenue up 25% and subscription revenue increasing 10% to $43.7 million. The company's adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed significantly to $4.8 million from $22.1 million a year earlier, whilst GAAP net loss fell 46% to $35.6 million. GAAP gross margin reached 36%, with non-GAAP gross margin at 38%. CEO Rick Wilmer pointed to improving growth, new charging products, and a path towards positive EBITDA. ChargePoint is introducing next-generation Level 2 and Level 3 chargers in the US and expanding high-performance charging products in Europe.
