Requirements
A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential with three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
Experience working with elderly people or senior citizens is required.
A valid New York State driver's license is required.
A registered and insured New York State vehicle is required.
Sufficient mobility to drive to and participate in meetings at clients' homes or community facilities is required.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain connections with community members and service organizations while ensuring cultural competency.
Connect older individuals with agencies that provide entitlement benefits and social services so they can remain in their homes and participate in family and community life.
Assist clients with accessing entitlement programs, completing documents properly, and following up.
Maintain records in compliance with relevant departmental confidentiality and compliance standards.
Develop and update a comprehensive resource directory of key community contacts for referrals.
Conduct outreach through door-to-door visits and community presentations.
Coordinate transportation services for elderly clients when necessary.
Desired Qualifications
An associate's degree in a Human Services field is preferred.

Responsibilities
The Elderly Services Neighborhood Advisor plays a vital role in the community by establishing and maintaining connections with community members and service organizations, ensuring cultural competency. They act as a conduit to various agencies providing entitlements benefits and social services, helping older individuals remain in their homes and engage in family and community life. The advisor assists clients with accessing entitlement programs, ensuring proper document completion and follow-up. They maintain records in compliance with relevant departments' confidentiality and compliance standards. Additionally, they develop and update a comprehensive resource directory of key community contacts for referrals, conduct outreach through door-to-door visits and community presentations, and coordinate transportation services for elderly clients when necessary..
This Position is Part Time at 17.5 Hours a week. Pay For This Position is $19.00 Per Hour
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:
Associate's degree in a Human Services field preferred.
High School Diploma/G.E.D. with three years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience working with the elderly and/or senior citizens required.
Licenses/Certificates/Clearances:
Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.
N.Y.S. Registered and insured vehicle.
Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:
Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings at client's homes and/or community facilities.
