Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • At least five years of claims-adjusting experience is required, including at least two years adjusting or overseeing highly complex casualty claims.
  • Prior claims management experience and/or auditing experience is preferred.
  • The role requires communication and analytical ability sufficient to interact with associates, managers, agents, and vendors.
  • The role requires team-building and coordination skills.
  • The role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present critical information to senior management.
  • The candidate must be able to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • The role requires leadership ability and the ability to make autonomous decisions based on multiple facts.
  • The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced automated production environment and have planning, organizational, time-management, prioritization, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • The candidate must meet company guidelines for attendance, punctuality, and professional appearance and decorum.
Responsibilities
  • Review home-office casualty files and provide direction as needed to ensure handling follows best-practice guidelines and local jurisdiction regulations.
  • Provide guidance and direction to claims staff to ensure proper handling and risk mitigation.
  • Provide authority and guidance on bodily-injury claims regarding coverage, liability, and damages as required.
  • Provide feedback to leadership and adjusting staff to continually improve file handling.
  • Collaborate with claims staff, front-line and senior claims management, and legal counsel.
  • Answer questions and participate in roundtable discussions with claims staff and management to provide feedback and guidance on claim-handling procedures.
  • Research complex coverage issues, industry trends, and related topics.
  • Assist with targeted audits of processes or functions, such as total-loss handling, bodily-injury evaluations, cycle times, regulatory reviews, and customer-service skills, and/or management re-audits to verify calibration and accuracy of first-level reviews.
  • Assist in designing and delivering casualty training as needed to ensure compliance and proper claim handling.
