Requirements
  • ServSafe Certification is required within 6 months of hire.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, climbing, pushing, twisting, and pulling, including handling items weighing 40 pounds or less.
  • Ability to use both hands to grasp, grip, move, or operate objects and perform repetitive finger, hand, and wrist movements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to follow district policies and procedures and maintain strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written, graphic, and oral instructions in English.
  • Must travel to multiple schools within a reasonable geographic area, maintain reliable personal transportation, and work a flexible schedule based on site needs.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain daily meal counts and production records.
  • Prepare school lunch and breakfast meals according to regulations, recipes, portion sizes, and verbal instructions.
  • Understand and maintain proper food temperatures, appearance, and portion sizes.
  • Set up and clean serving areas for timely student service, including dishwashing and sanitation of workstations.
  • Follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedures and health department sanitation standards.
  • Use and clean kitchen equipment properly and follow safety precautions.
  • Operate the Point of Sale system and reconcile monies daily.
  • Manage opening, closing, cooking, and student serving in the absence of the Kitchen Manager as directed by the Area Manager.
  • Receive deliveries and store food and supplies as directed.
  • Inventory fresh, frozen, and dry food and supplies.
  • Serve meals while temping and recording food temperatures and maintaining compliance with the HACCP plan.
  • Assist with preparation, service, and sale of meals, including washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruits, vegetables, and meat.
  • Participate in and lead training for kitchen staff and participate in PGI classes.
  • Complete required USDA mandatory professional standards training hours annually.
  • Pursue regulatory changes and provide sustainable solutions.
  • Maintain community relationships with Nutrition Services staff, school staff, students, and parents.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
