Requirements
  • At least one year of professional nursing experience is preferred.
  • A valid Tennessee Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Current CPR training is required annually.
  • Current OSHA training is required annually.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.
  • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve department objectives, maintain good employee relations, meet interdepartmental objectives, and follow infection control policies.
  • Prepare patients for scheduled procedures and assist with patient assessment, including accurately recording histories and performing basic triage procedures according to policy.
  • Retrieve patients' initial basic condition, create nursing histories, and report findings to the appropriate practitioner.
  • Use AIDET communication fundamentals to support patient comfort and privacy.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families during their visits.
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of patient medical records and maintain required reports, records, and statistics.
  • Maintain adequate supplies and well-maintained equipment.
  • Inspect the area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards, and take corrective action when violations occur.
  • Schedule outside patient appointments according to physician orders and accurately relay appointment information to patients.
  • Take calls from hospitals and nursing homes and relay appropriate information to practitioners in a timely manner.
  • Ensure test results are received and relayed to patients in a timely manner.
  • Complete the medical orientation checklist.
  • Initiate appropriate patient education.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implement care appropriate to the diagnosis and physician orders.
  • Solve problems and coordinate clinic patient care under physician supervision.
  • Demonstrate competence in delivering care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to remain current with trends in the field.
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other care team members as part of a team-based approach to overall patient care.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Dec. 6, 2024 /PRNewswire/ -- Each of Covenant Health's nine acute-care hospitals in East Tennessee has earned an 'A' hospital safety grade for Fall 2024 from The Leapfrog Group, marking the second consecutive semester all facilities achieved this top rating. The Leapfrog Group collects and reports data related to safety, quality, and other aspects of hospitals' performance. Twice a year, Leapfrog assigns safety grades based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
