About the job

Requirements
  • CTO, Vice President of Engineering, or Head of Engineering experience in a consumer mobile subscription company is required.
  • Experience leading a team of 10 or more engineers is required.
  • Production experience with Core Image, Metal, OpenGL ES or Vulkan, AVFoundation, and MediaCodec across both mobile platforms is required.
  • Experience migrating workloads from backend systems to devices, including on-device inference or video processing, with measurable unit-economics impact is required.
  • Subscription growth experience including paywall optimization, mobile measurement partner attribution, post-AppTrackingTransparency/SKAN, and lifetime-value-driven decisions is required.
  • Production experience building agentic artificial intelligence or large language model systems with memory, tools, and evaluation loops is required.
  • Hands-on experience with automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, and real-time voice-agent stacks is required.
  • Management experience including hiring, performance reviews, budgeting, cost-aware decisions, and business orientation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Own the live iOS app technically and lead the Android launch.
  • Own auto-edit quality and stability, including scene understanding, shot selection, beat matching, subtitle generation, and thematic coherence.
  • Own voice-agent latency, recognition accuracy, dialog quality, and selection and optimization of third-party providers.
  • Manage the hybrid video pipeline, with analysis server-side and assembly on-device, and lead the strategic shift toward more on-device processing without quality loss.
  • Own operational excellence, including uptime, incident management, and AI output-quality monitoring.
  • Prioritize migration of tasks from backend to device and define the technical plan and quality metrics.
  • Optimize GPU inference and the server-side video pipeline, including FFmpeg, queues, and content delivery networks.
  • Manage costs for third-party artificial intelligence application programming interfaces, including large language models, automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech, and music generation or licensing.
  • Manage the current six-person engineering team.
  • Hire one to two people over six months to address specific tasks and stack gaps.
  • Conduct performance reviews and technical onboarding and build engineering culture.
  • Design engineering processes covering sprint cadence, code review, on-call, and incident management.
  • Evolve the product's agentic architecture, including the Operator, Director, and Producer hierarchy.
  • Develop the memory system on pgvector and Neo4j using hybrid GraphRAG retrieval, the knowledge graph, and the user-portrait pipeline.
  • Optimize the voice-first interface through provider selection and stack hybridization for end-to-end latency and cost.
  • Build evaluation infrastructure for large language model agents, including large-language-model-as-judge systems and regression tests for edit quality and tone of voice.
  • Own the iOS mobile video stack using Swift, Core Image, Metal, AVFoundation, Vision, and on-device CoreML inference where it improves unit economics.
  • Own the Android video stack using Kotlin, OpenGL ES or Vulkan, MediaCodec, CameraX, and ML Kit or TensorFlow Lite.
  • Own server-side rendering using FFmpeg and GPU inference, content delivery networks, and video delivery.
  • Own on-device video composition, real-time preview, and optimization across device classes.
  • Own the subscription stack, including RevenueCat or Adapty, paywall A/B testing, and server-driven paywalls.
  • Own attribution using AppsFlyer, Adjust, or Branch, SKAN or AdAttributionKit, probabilistic modeling, and web-to-app funnels.
  • Own product analytics and the data warehouse, including event pipelines, business intelligence, cohort analysis, and lifetime-value/return-on-ad-spend dashboards.
  • Translate company strategy into a roadmap from tactical quick wins to stable long-term plans.
  • Prepare the technology organization for technical due diligence for the next funding round.
  • Partner directly with the founder on product and business decisions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Production launch experience with an auto-edit video or voice-controlled app comparable to Captions, Descript, Opus Clip, Submagic, or CapCut.
  • Experience with proprietary machine-learning models in production, including fine-tuning, on-device CoreML or TensorFlow Lite, and model distillation.
  • Experience optimizing third-party artificial-intelligence API cost and latency through hybridization and in-house replacements.
