Requirements
  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in the construction trade, or an equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience determined by the hiring authority.
  • In-depth knowledge of and ability to use and maintain tools, materials, equipment, and practices of the construction trade.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and building regulations.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building schedules, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and give clear verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to identify problems, collect data, and communicate facts to the job Superintendent.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively manage time, equipment, and personnel.
  • Ability to estimate time and materials.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in stressful, difficult situations.
  • Ability to mentor subordinates.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must maintain current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical duties and heavy manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and bend for full work days.

Responsibilities
  • Work with subcontractor foremen and lead persons on the project to manage people, time, and equipment.
  • Participate in scheduled weekly and monthly meetings.
  • Help ensure quality control in compliance with company requirements, project instructions, and Superintendent direction.
  • Help ensure high standards of craftsmanship, assembly, and cleanliness are met and maintained on job sites by company and subcontractor crews.
  • Work with layout personnel to establish and lay out building lines, baselines, and benchmarks.
  • Supervise the daily work activities of the assigned crew.
  • Adhere to and assist with enforcement of the company Safety Program, applicable safety regulations, jobsite expectations, and assigned safety tasks.
  • Maintain high safety standards by setting a personal example.
  • Participate in jobsite safety meetings and safety inspections.
  • Participate in and assist the Superintendent with daily crew huddles focused on safety, planned activities, goals, and expectations.
  • Be familiar with the costs of specific work activities involving the assigned crew.
  • Supervise and coordinate work activities to maximize productivity and minimize final costs.
  • Communicate daily production goals to work crews.
  • Assist the Superintendent in monitoring the schedule and report problems that may affect final costs or established deadlines.
  • Expedite and coordinate material deliveries and storage.
  • Support the Superintendent in conducting and documenting weekly meetings to schedule and coordinate company and subcontractor crews.
  • Inform the Superintendent when manpower, materials, or equipment shortages are anticipated.
  • Lead by example and support continuous improvement of field personnel.
  • Provide regular performance feedback to staff and work with the Superintendent and Director of Field Operations to develop personnel.
  • Assist with performance appraisals and peer reviews when requested.
  • Create a healthy work environment where employees can reach their full potential.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of company and subcontractor crews.
  • Assist with performance management and development of company craftworkers.
