Requirements
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Previous cooking experience is required; experience in a hospital or restaurant environment is preferred.
  • Must be able to perform the stated physical duties, including prolonged walking, sitting, and standing; handling, twisting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items weighing 1–50 pounds; and occasional stooping, bending, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to hear normal conversation and have general, far, and peripheral vision.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, serve, and forecast all items needed for menu services according to recipes and production methods as directed.
  • Prepare food in scheduled amounts and on schedule for service, ensuring appropriate quality, quantity, and presentation.
  • Ensure foods are served at the proper temperature and merchandised to best enhance product quality.
  • Follow recipes and ensure food is prepared in the proper amounts and portion sizes for service.
  • Review menu items, contents, and service methods with staff.
  • Alert staff to menu changes in sufficient time for action.
  • Review menus for service periods to ensure necessary preparation in forecasted amounts, following direction, recipes, and portions, in time for service.
  • Review the next day's service with staff and alert them to changes or special service requirements.
  • Assist with general sanitation of the food service department, including wiping walls, cleaning equipment, working in the dish room, and emptying trash cans.
  • Clean and maintain the work area at all times.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Cooking experience in a hospital or restaurant environment.
