Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and 5 years of progressively responsible experience in frontline fundraising or professional development/advancement, including major gift and campaign experience.
  • Knowledge of the integrated advancement model, alumni relations, and development or advancement principles.
  • Knowledge of University of Washington Advancement policies and procedures, including use of Microsoft Dynamics development database software.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours and adjust in-office days on short or limited notice.
  • Regular and reliable transportation for local travel and willingness to travel when necessary.
  • Ability to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
  • Ability to stand continuously for 4 or more hours during events.
  • Ability to walk continuously for 4 or more hours during events.
  • Ability to work more than a 10-hour day during events.
Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of 150 major gift prospects and advance them through the donor engagement process to secure annual or semi-annual major gifts.
  • Oversee major gift prospects with a focus on individual donations of $100,000 or more.
  • Create and implement a cultivation strategy for each managed prospect, targeting at least 150 substantive contact report entries and a minimum of 10 major gift solicitations annually.
  • Establish personal goals, objectives, and strategies for Intercollegiate Athletics in consultation with advancement leadership.
  • Prepare and complete timely contact reports, written proposals, background reports, and other development materials for donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Establish, nurture, and maintain relationships with donors and supporters while aligning their interests and goals with the institution's mission.
  • Evaluate advancement programs and fundraising performance using data and metrics, assess progress toward goals, and recommend adjustments to improve effectiveness and donor engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, Conference, Washington State, and other applicable governing-body rules and regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in an NCAA Division I athletic program, higher education, academic fundraising, public relations, or marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An advanced degree.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and forms.
  • Occasional out-of-state travel.
