Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience in the operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation of water utility systems.
  • One year of experience training adults, which may include on-the-job training.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • A Texas Class B Water license.
  • A Texas Class B Wastewater license, or Wastewater Collection II or III.
  • Either 60 hours of classroom instructional experience or completion of approved instructor training courses in Methods of Teaching or Effective Instructional Techniques and Instructional Design and Evaluation or Organizational and Use of Training Materials, or the ability to attain the requirement within six months of employment.
  • An associate's degree with five years of experience in the operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation of water utility systems may be accepted as an equivalency.
  • A high school diploma or GED with seven years of experience in the operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation of water utility systems may be accepted as an equivalency.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in training specialty skilled and semi-skilled courses within the Water Program.
  • Use knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and course effectiveness.
  • Provide online and classroom instruction, field-based skills training, and technical assistance in a specialty area.
  • Use a variety of media to present course material.
  • Assist in creating or updating curriculum content when necessary to meet learner needs.
  • Maintain technical competence and skills.
