Requirements
  • A current Washington State Certified Behavior Technician license is required.
  • Must be able to keep students safe and, when necessary, implement CPI therapeutic holds.
  • Must be able to remove oneself from potentially harmful situations and, in some cases, lift a child.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50–65 pounds and assist or physically support students, including lifting or guiding students of varying sizes.
  • Must be able to physically intervene when required to ensure safety, in accordance with CPI training.
  • Must be able to quickly remove oneself and/or others from unsafe situations.
  • Must be able to maintain attention and focus in a dynamic, high-stimulation environment.
  • Must be able to multitask and shift priorities quickly.
  • Must be able to exercise sound judgment and make decisions, particularly in high-pressure or safety-sensitive situations.
  • Must be able to perform duties under stress, including during behavioral escalations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide applied behavior analysis services to families and children by implementing individualized treatment programs designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
  • Participate in parent education groups under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans and behavior intervention plans for students with autism.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students to encourage their academic, social, and behavioral growth.
  • Help students with daily tasks, including communication, social interaction, self-management skills, and hygiene.
  • Prepare students and materials for work and departure, including appropriate clothing, devices, and work.
  • Support students during classroom activities, field trips, and other school-related events.
  • Implement behavior intervention plan strategies and techniques that encourage student self-regulation and readiness to learn.
  • Collect and document data on student performance, behavior, and progress toward goals.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team and behavioral specialists to create a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Communicate with teachers and other school staff regarding student progress and challenges.
  • Participate in daily training sessions with behavioral analysts and professional development.
Desired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 12 college credits in applied behavior analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, or basic life support certification is preferred.
