Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, thermal engineering, or a related field. (Master's or Ph.D. preferred)
  • First-principles physics understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and electrical fundamentals
  • 4+ years of experience in thermal systems engineering, preferably in the automotive industry
  • Experience releasing and launching automotive products into volume production is preferred
  • Proficiency in thermal analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent, COMSOL) and CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA)
  • Strong knowledge of automotive thermal management principles, including heat exchangers and fluid dynamics
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment
  • Ability to be self-sufficient with minimal direction to meet customer deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface with colleagues and suppliers around the world
  • Ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive thermal systems (e.g., SAE, ISO) is a plus
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop advanced thermal management systems for all of Scout’s rugged off-road electric vehicles
  • Conduct detailed thermal analysis using computational tools, simulations, and physical testing to validate system performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thermal systems into vehicle platforms
  • Define and implement thermal validation testing procedures and protocols
  • Evaluate and select appropriate materials, components, and suppliers for thermal systems
  • Support prototype builds, development, and validation activities
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in automotive thermal systems
