  • Experience working with event-driven architectures and message brokers, with Kafka being a strict requirement.
  • Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture, microservices, and handling high-concurrency connections.
  • Pragmatic approach to AI-assisted development (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.), knowing how to use it to move faster, while possessing the senior-level debugging skills to review and validate generated code before it hits peer review.

Responsibilities
  • Build and Maintain Service Architecture: Architect and implement reliable, scalable backend services to support our device management platform, with a heavy focus on backend engineering (~70% of the role).
  • Power Real-Time Device Orchestration: Own and evolve our asynchronous service communication, configuration distribution, and telemetry pipelines using Kafka to handle high-velocity device state changes.
  • Optimize Database Performance: Write clean, high-performance database queries to interact directly with our relational databases, ensure maximum query efficiency, speed, and visibility into device inventories.
  • Leverage Modern Dev Workflows: Lean into AI-assisted development tools to accelerate your workflow, while maintaining a rigorous standard for self-reviewing code so as not to bog down the team’s pipeline.
  • Drive Infrastructure Improvements: Partner with the infrastructure team to evolve CI/CD pipelines, agent distribution networks, and service deployment patterns.
  • Mentor and Lead by Example: Lead technical development with knowledge of up-to-date best practices, and guide other engineers through code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical decision-making.
  • Design for Scalability and Resilience: Build systems that handle massive device fleet growth gracefully and are resilient to failure across distributed global environments.

It provides a unified platform to manage and secure Apple devices for businesses, including deploying hardened devices, updating software, fixing vulnerabilities, and overseeing the entire device fleet, plus a MigrationAgent to switch from older MDM systems with a few clicks. The platform combines management and security in one system that works across all Apple devices; IT teams apply configurations, enforce policies, push updates, and monitor device health. It differentiates itself through deep Apple ecosystem expertise and hands-on support from engineers with Mac admin experience, plus a streamlined migration path that minimizes user interaction. Its goal is to help businesses scale secure Apple device management with an easy-to-use platform and strong support, enabling smooth migrations and a stronger IT infrastructure for growth.

Simplify Jobs

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Cross-platform MDM expands replacement deals across Mac, Windows, and Android.
  • Passwordless hardware-backed passkeys strengthen access control and endpoint differentiation.
  • Migration support lowers switching friction from legacy MDM incumbents.

What critics are saying

  • Jamf’s Apple specialization weakens Iru’s original Apple-first differentiation.
  • Microsoft Intune bundling compresses pricing and reduces standalone MDM demand.
  • Broader platform scope increases complexity, slowing deployment and muddying sales messaging.

What makes Iru unique

  • Iru unifies identity, endpoint, and compliance into one AI-powered platform.
  • It evolved from Kandji’s Apple-first MDM expertise into cross-platform management.
  • Its support team consists of actual IT admins, available 24/5.
