We are looking for an Engineering Test Technician - Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) to join our Farmington Hills, Michigan team.
Job Summary
The individual in this position will work directly with engineers to install and support testing prototype/preproductionsystems related to research and development efforts at Nissan Technical Center N.A.
Job functions Include but are not limited to:
- This position is responsible for installing vehicle prototype parts and assisting and conducting NVH data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct NVH tests, organize and prepare data according to engineer requests per laboratory/customer test procedures and specifications.
- Responsibilities include conducting various NVH test procedures/methods for technical analysis, product validation, and robustness, including but not limited to driveline NVH-related topics.
- Assist in identifying NVH issues through component and vehicle level evaluation and data assessment.
- Conducts acoustic and vibration measurements utilizing accelerometers and microphones.
- Process acquired data and report test results.
- Install NVH instrumentation and set up a data acquisition system (Siemens LMS).
- Perform NVH tests, such as modal/FRF measurements, near-field acoustic measurements, prop shaft sensitivity, vehicle shimmy, idle noise, body leakage, impact testing, and ODS.
- Instrumenting vehicles and conducting component/system level testing.
- Assisting the engineering team with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and developing effective countermeasures.
- Communicating accurately and professionally with technicians, engineers, and management teams.
- Creating detailed technical documents to support test setup and operation.
- Tracking personal progress to ensure department and corporate objectives are met.
- Creating accurate, detailed test reports for submission to test engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in automotive, Technology, Acoustics, or related field preferred.
- Min 5-7 years’ experience in NVH testing.
- In-depth knowledge of instrumentation (microphones, accelerometers, tachometers, g-meters, load cells, shakers, telemetry, etc.) and data collection.
- Excellent test planning and time management skills.
- Experience with Siemens TestLab, Signature, and Structure.
- Proficiency in MS Office packages (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to communicate clearly with a broad range of people, including technicians, engineers, and management.
- Ability and willingness to travel to support test trips and work overtime when needed.
