Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in network support.
  • An Associate’s degree in a related field; additional years of experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • Security+ certification or an equivalent certification compliant with Department of Defense 8570 Information Assurance Technical Level II requirements.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.
  • ITIL Foundation certification, or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire.
  • Experience with firewall administration.
  • Experience providing enterprise local-area network and wide-area network support.
  • Experience with Microsoft server installation, server roles, Active Directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to provide support in a 24/7/365 environment, including occasional coverage outside the assigned shift and after-hours, weekend, or holiday support on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to travel to continental United States or outside continental United States sites for temporary duty support.
  • U.S. citizenship and a current Secret clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions using local-area network and wide-area network protocols, including Border Gateway Protocol, Open Shortest Path First, and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot an Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching backbone network.
  • Assist with installing and configuring existing and new wide-area network transport systems as directed by USAFCENT/A6 leadership.
  • Develop standardized testing and cutover plans for new USAFCENT wide-area network equipment.
  • Establish testing and remote-monitoring procedures to ensure reliable operation of wide-area network transport in theater.
  • Collect networking metrics remotely and locally to analyze substandard network performance.
  • Analyze networking metrics and identify substandard network performance.
  • Configure and troubleshoot quality of service, including policing, shaping, and queuing.
  • Report documented system and network findings for analysis and trending of bandwidth and network security incidents.
  • Provide first-level technical support to deployed users and escalate complex problems as required.
  • Act as a consultant and provide feedback to the government to optimize wide-area network transport networks.
  • Identify and evaluate the operational impact of outages.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to resolve outages as required by local policy.
