Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
  • Certified in the American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Familiarity with surgical devices and reports.
  • Proficiency with the Cerner electronic health record.
  • Ability to interpret reports and laboratory results with a focus on anesthesia guidelines.
Responsibilities
  • Independently plan and provide professional nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders, established guidelines, and the scope of practice defined by the Georgia Nurse Practice Act.
  • Prepare charts for the Gwinnett and Duluth campuses.
  • Handle requests and review laboratory results, diagnostic results, clearances, and studies.
  • Consult with anesthesia nurse practitioners to order additional laboratories, diagnostics, clearances, and testing as needed.
  • Work closely with the patient’s surgeon.
  • Call specialist offices and surgeons’ offices and discuss cases with providers by telephone and through Cerner.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Two years of experience as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Additional life-support credential such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program, or other clinical specialty certifications.
  • Visual color acuity, depending on the role in specific units.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient office.
