About the Job

Requirements

  • CCIE, CCNP, or equivalent experience designing, building, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex, large-scale networking infrastructures.
  • Hands-on experience in infrastructure automation and cloud computing, with AWS preferred and depth in AWS networking services such as Transit Gateway, VPC design, Direct Connect, PrivateLink, Route 53, NAT/egress patterns, and network firewalls, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience planning, deploying, and troubleshooting network solutions at scale, including IP address management, BGP and dynamic routing, firewalls, load balancers, routers and switches, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Strong coding skills in Python, .NET, Java, Go, or similar languages.
  • Experience leading incident response and root cause analysis for high-impact, ambiguous failures across team boundaries.
  • Ability to lead complex projects involving ambiguity and strategic thinking, with or without formal authority.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical messages clearly and persuasively to technical and non-technical audiences, adjust depth and examples to the audience, and facilitate productive discussions.
  • Ability to connect network platform decisions to business drivers such as operational efficiency, reliability, and cost; link 6–12 month initiatives to broader organizational strategy; and anticipate cross-team impact and trade-offs.
  • Ability to investigate root causes and propose durable solutions in a continuous improvement environment.
  • English proficiency sufficient to read, write, and lead discussions across time zones and language boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Set and evolve the technical direction of the cloud network platform, align with canonical approaches, and contribute to the broader technical community.
  • Lead high- and low-level design for connectivity patterns across multi-account, multi-region, multi-geo, and hybrid-cloud topologies, making architectural decisions in multi-component, multi-team designs.
  • Manage complex network projects and processes end to end, coordinate across subjects and stakeholders, and escalate for managerial support in a timely manner.
  • Reduce long-term complexity through simplification, consolidation, deprecation, and paved roads while balancing scalability, maintainability, and cost, including human and AI interaction with the platform.
  • Own operational health of the network platform, lead complex incident diagnosis, coordination, and resolution, drive complex postmortems, and own resulting short- and long-term technical debt strategy.
  • Promote safe change practices—including feature flags, gradual rollout, monitoring, and fast rollback—for network changes, and drive topology simplification and cost optimization.
  • Set and enforce quality standards for automation and infrastructure code, including testing practices, code review standards, reusable modules, and anticipation of quality and maintainability needs arising from business strategy.
  • Define platform observability, including robust monitoring, controls, and service-level agreements that surface issues proactively.
  • Trace business processes from product through transactional, network, and data layers, and understand how network design choices affect them.
  • Own the network security posture within scope, including PCI DSS or equivalent standards, segmentation, and audit-ready controls.
  • Evaluate buy-versus-build options and new products and technologies using data on stability, reliability, scalability, and cost.
  • Mentor IC4/IC5 engineers on the broader system landscape, design reasoning, and operational practice.
  • Participate in hiring, contribute to function-wide taskforces and initiatives, and document decisions so knowledge travels across teams.

Desired Qualifications

  • AWS experience is preferred.
