About the job

Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience completing inventory reconciliations or inventory-control improvement work in e-commerce, retail, consumer goods, or logistics.
  • Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite or a comparable enterprise resource planning system.
  • Experience working with Amazon inventory and settlement data, and with multiple third-party logistics or warehouse-management systems.
  • Strong understanding of inventory movements, warehouse processes, system integrations, and reconciliation methodology.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets, and the ability to work independently with large and imperfect data sets.
  • Ability to build working relationships across Finance, Operations, Tech, and third-party logistics partners, and to develop processes and procedures as part of the role.
  • Comfort working in a hands-on, ambiguous environment and driving resolution across internal teams and external partners.
  • Clear communication, strong documentation, and project-management discipline.
Responsibilities
  • Own the month-end inventory close personally by performing reconciliations, investigating variances, and preparing evidence.
  • Conduct detailed review of inventory data and transaction flows across NetSuite, Amazon, and third-party logistics warehouse-management systems.
  • Reconcile inventory quantities and movements, including receipts, fulfilment, transfers, returns, removals, adjustments, and write-offs.
  • Maintain in-transit and transfer integrity by reconciling transfer orders, fulfilments, and receipts, including timing and period cut-off, so goods in motion are accurately stated.
  • Reconcile marketplace settlement activity, including FBA removals, lost and damaged claims, reimbursements, and returns disposition, and pursue recoverable value.
  • Investigate discrepancies with internal teams and third-party logistics partners, drive corrective action, and maintain a clear issue log.
  • Identify missing, duplicate, delayed, or incorrectly mapped transactions and drive them to correction.
  • Prepare, evidence, and document inventory adjustments for approval in line with agreed authority limits.
  • Run stock counts and cycle counts with third-party logistics partners, validate results, and resolve count variances.
  • Work closely with Finance to supply reconciled information and supporting evidence for inventory reporting, valuation, and audit.
  • Design simple, robust, repeatable controls and operate them day to day.
  • Train and embed processes, templates, and open-action ownership across Supply Chain, Finance, and third-party logistics partners.
  • Run the month-end inventory close each period and progressively shorten it.
  • Operate the reconciliation controls day to day and keep them fit for purpose as channels, brands, and systems change.
  • Own a cycle count programme across third-party logistics nodes, including schedule, scope, variance investigation, and accuracy reporting.
  • Produce inventory reporting to Supply Chain and Finance that progresses from historical summaries to proactive and predictive analysis, including turnover, obsolescence risk, margin impact, and forward exposure.
  • Onboard newly acquired brands into the inventory control framework as the portfolio grows.
  • Influence system and process design as NetSuite matures so controls are built into configuration.
  • Establish a reconciled and documented inventory baseline between NetSuite, Amazon, and each third-party logistics partner.
  • Create a register of historical discrepancies with root causes, financial impact, owners, and resolution status.
  • Resolve material aged reconciliation items and inventory variances or submit them for formal treatment.
  • Document a month-end inventory close, covering roles, deadlines, approvals, and required supporting evidence, and complete it within established business-day targets.
  • Submit defined variance thresholds and escalation rules to Finance for agreement.
  • Establish standard controlling procedures for inventory receipts, adjustments, transfers, returns, removals, write-offs, and stock-count variances.
  • Establish a standing joint review between Supply Chain and Finance with an agreed cadence, agenda, and pack.
  • Create a scalable reconciliation tracker and reporting pack for Supply Chain and Finance.
  • Implement improvements to data flows, system configuration, controls, and third-party logistics reporting when within the role's remit, and specify broader improvements when needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • SQL or BigQuery experience; the data warehouse and exception-based reconciliation will depend on querying it directly rather than exporting to spreadsheets.
  • Multi-entity and multi-currency experience, ideally with NetSuite OneWorld, including intercompany transfers and foreign exchange on inventory.
  • Exposure to landed cost and inventory valuation, not only quantity accuracy.
  • Experience integrating acquired businesses or new brands into an existing control framework.

About the company

Unybrands acquires and scales small to mid-sized online businesses in the e-commerce space, focusing on founders looking to sell.
