Requirements
  • A current, active, and unrestricted state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
  • A minimum of three years of nursing experience is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and recordkeeping requirements is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle critical situations with tact and diplomacy is required.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong organizational skills and precise attention to detail is required.
  • The employee must follow departmental and company safety policies and programs and wear required protective equipment where mandatory.
  • The employee must be able to work unusual shifts, including holidays, weekends, and extended shifts, as needed.
  • The employee must be able to move through hot, dusty, cold, humid, and noisy facility environments as needed and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Review post-offer medical histories with employees, assess concerns, and recommend referrals according to established protocols.
  • Administer drug and alcohol testing, including post-offer drug screens, according to company policies.
  • Provide first aid, nursing, and emergency care for workplace injuries and illnesses consistent with the Licensed Practical Nurse scope of practice, occupational health nursing guidelines, medical directives, and protocols.
  • Consult with the Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant Registered Nurses and refer cases to a higher level of care when indicated.
  • Assist with medical cost management through early identification, treatment, and follow-up nursing care for injuries and illnesses.
  • Partner with workers' compensation adjusters, case managers, and healthcare providers to resolve workers' compensation claims in a timely manner.
  • Use an electronic medical record to document clinical care, interactions, and case-management activities and maintain accurate injury, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and workers' compensation records.
  • Serve on the Safety and Ergonomics Committee, support safety and ergonomic functions, and provide leadership in recognizing and preventing workplace hazards.
  • Develop wellness initiatives and programs aligned with company goals and direction.
  • Lead ergonomics initiatives, analyze injury data, identify trends, implement improvements, and manage the Ergonomics Job Measurement System.
  • Manage respiratory protection, first responder, and bloodborne pathogen programs for employees.
  • Conduct new-hire safety and medical orientation.
  • Advise, coach, and educate employees on preventative health and wellness.
  • Maintain adequate facility medical supplies and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist with accident investigations.
  • Communicate with medical, legal, and insurance personnel and represent the site in workers' compensation litigation proceedings.
  • Consult with the Corporate Occupational Health Manager or Plant Registered Nurses as required.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.

  • Experience administering workers' compensation and case management within a manufacturing plant is preferred.
  • Multilingual communication ability is preferred.
