Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a course in cardiac dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation, or one year of experience in monitor surveillance in a coronary care or telemetry unit.
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration, apply.
Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff with surveillance of cardiac monitors, including identification and communication of dysrhythmias.
  • Assist with clerical and support activities for patient care on the nursing unit.
  • Receive visitors to the unit and facilitate contact between the patient or family and the appropriate discipline.
  • Participate in unit and selected departmental activities to promote effective problem solving and communication.
