Graduation from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
For the Senior Staff Engineer tier, be licensed as a Professional Engineer and obtain Missouri licensure within one year of hire.
For the Senior Staff Engineer tier, have considerable engineering experience, including five years focused on water and wastewater projects or services.
For the Utilities Engineer tier, have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam; no experience is required, and the position is typically entry level.
Hold a valid state driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record.
Demonstrate skills in engineering design, analysis, and calculations.
Demonstrate technical writing and correspondence skills and the ability to communicate with consulting engineers, contractors, developers, the public, city staff, and elected officials.

Responsibilities
Represent the Water Utilities Department in interactions with the Public Works Engineering Division, engineering consultants, project-related contractors, other water and sewer utilities, and developers.
Manage assets and coordinate and monitor capital improvement projects.

Manage projects and provide engineering support to utility operations.
Prepare and deliver public presentations.

The City of Lee's Summit is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Utilities Engineer / Senior Staff Engineer in the Water Utilities Department.
The Utilities Engineer works under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager for Water Utilities. This position represents the interests of the Department through interactions with the Public Works Engineering Division, engineering consultants, project related contractors, other water and sewer utilities, and developers. This position is responsible for asset management, coordinating and monitoring capital improvement projects, performing periodic plan reviews, collecting and evaluating data regarding the water and wastewater systems, project management, provides engineering support to utility operations, prepares and delivers public presentations and may interact with elected and appointed officials, city staff, utility customers and other interested parties.
