Requirements
  • Experience designing content that meets user needs and makes complex concepts, processes, and language easy to understand and use.
  • Ability to collaborate with user-centred design colleagues and stakeholders through agile service design phases from discovery to live.
  • Ability to participate in user research and use qualitative and quantitative research evidence to inform content and user-journey design.
  • Experience contributing to prototype development and participating in user testing to improve content interactions.
  • Experience working with and guiding senior stakeholders to produce user-centred content and influence evidence-based decision-making.
  • Ability to ensure content meets statutory or legal requirements while remaining accessible and usable to broad audiences.
  • Ability to support and coach teams and stakeholders in user-centred design and agile methodologies.
  • Ability to advocate for usability, accessibility, inclusivity, inclusive design, and universal access.
  • Ability to contribute to design systems and set standards for content design.
  • Detailed understanding and experience of the Government Service Standard and the role of content designers within it.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, listening, and facilitation skills, with confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Technical literacy sufficient to understand technical processes, concepts, and constraints at a high level.
  • Ability to recognise and work within project constraints while supporting delivery of value to clients and users.
  • Openness to working in different locations for different clients, including travel as client needs dictate.
Responsibilities
  • Design content that meets user needs and makes complex concepts, processes, and language easy to understand and use.
  • Collaborate with user-centred design colleagues and stakeholders through agile service design phases from discovery to live.
  • Participate in user research and apply qualitative and quantitative research evidence to content and user-journey design.
  • Contribute to prototype development and participate in user testing to improve content interactions.

  • Contribute to clients’ design systems and set standards for content design.
  • Support the development of the internal culture, tools, processes, and growth opportunities.
  • Support the development of the Design practice and contribute to the Content Design community of practice.
  • Contribute to thought leadership content and the content calendar for marketing activities.
  • Contribute to client proposals and presentations to help win new projects.
