Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited paramedic program.
  • Hold a current State of Montana Paramedic or Critical Care Paramedic license.
  • Hold current National Registry Paramedic certification.
  • Hold current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Hold current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Hold current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.
  • Hold current Prehospital Trauma Life Support certification, or obtain it within twelve months of hire.
  • Hold a valid Montana driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Complete all required education on time as assigned under DNV requirements, Bozeman Health policy, and other registry requirements.

  • Maintain regular and sustained attendance, including availability for weekends, after-hours shifts, and on-call work as required.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects or people weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Perform the physical, cognitive, and exposure-related functions required for patient transport, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, fine-finger movements, continuous visual acuity, timely decision-making, and exposure to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, medications, cleaning products, and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse partner to establish the plan of care and coordinate and deliver advanced and critical care interventions according to protocol and medical direction.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, interpret diagnostics, continually reassess patient status, and adjust interventions to meet transport goals and changing conditions.
  • Administer medications, manage advanced airways, provide ventilatory support, and perform approved procedures within scope and authorization.
  • Prepare, load, secure, and monitor patients and required transport equipment with the team, and verify equipment readiness and security before movement.
  • Use communication systems and global positioning system technology to coordinate with dispatch, team members, and receiving facilities, following radio and telephone etiquette standards.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and thorough electronic patient care reports and transport documentation, and deliver concise, structured handoffs to receiving staff.
  • Maintain ambulance and equipment readiness through daily check-offs, cleaning, restocking, and function testing; document deficiencies and arrange service as needed.
  • Monitor weather, road, and safety conditions; conduct risk assessments and fatigue scoring; and participate in pre-briefs and debriefs.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities, skills maintenance, drills, and continuing education, and incorporate evidence-based practice updates.
  • Serve as a clinical role model and resource to internal and external partners, and provide professional customer service and education as requested.
  • Perform base duties and additional tasks as assigned to support transport operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three years of paramedic experience in 9-1-1 emergency medical services or an emergency department setting.
  • International Board of Specialty Certification credentials, including CCP-C, FP-C, CP-C, or MTSP-C.
  • Previous interfacility transport experience.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course and/or VFIS driver training.
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency National Incident Management System training: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.
  • Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
  • Completion of the Difficult Airway Course.
