Requirements
  • A High School diploma or GED is required.
  • One to three years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, is required.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English is required.
  • The ability to comprehend and converse in English with medical center staff, patients, families, and external customers is required.
  • The ability to demonstrate working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures, and policies and apply them in varied situations is required.

  • Staff must be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Answer and screen telephone calls, take accurate messages, direct calls to the appropriate person, and greet and direct patients, families, visitors, and staff.
  • Respond to requests in a timely manner and provide clear, accurate information within the scope of knowledge and authority.
  • Update patient demographic and insurance information and obtain specialist referrals for patient appointments.
  • Schedule patient appointments using scheduling tools and resources.
  • Coordinate and communicate ancillary appointments and procedures with other hospital staff.
  • Obtain patient information and materials from referral sources.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records for physicians' clinical activities.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments and external customers while handling confidential information appropriately.
  • Explain policies and procedures when necessary.
  • Collect patient co-payments at the point of service.
  • Coordinate billing tickets for office visits and services, forward billing fee tickets to billing staff, and reconcile collections at the end of the business day.
  • Maintain physicians' clinical and administrative schedules and calendars.
  • Type correspondence, manuscripts, and other documents; transcribe letters and patient notes; and facilitate work in clinical computer systems.
  • Prepare and distribute routine reports.
  • Notify, confirm, and remind patients of consultation, follow-up, and simulation appointments by letter or telephone.
  • Obtain authorization for radiologic examinations as needed.
  • Sort, copy, file, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence and mail.
  • Participate in special projects and process-improvement initiatives as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate's degree is preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred.

Beth Israel Lahey Health rolls out Heidi's AI scribing to all physicians after 90% report better patient presence

Beth Israel Lahey Health is rolling out Heidi's ambient AI scribing tool to all its physicians following a successful trial across its facilities. The health system, which serves over 6,000 providers across 14 hospitals and 175 primary care practices, prioritises addressing physician burnout, with nearly half of US physicians reporting burnout. During a six-month trial offering Heidi to 1,000 providers, the majority adopted the technology. Survey results showed 89% were satisfied with note quality, 90% felt more present with patients, 74% reduced after-hours work time, and 82% experienced reduced cognitive load during visits. The implementation demonstrates how ambient AI can deliver immediate relief to physicians whilst benefiting patients and the healthcare system. Heidi supports over 2 million consultations weekly globally and has raised $96.6 million from investors including Point72 Private Investments and Blackbird.
