- Help design and oversee the end-to-end development of elegant full-stack web solutions, from technical analysis to architecture and implementation, through to unit testing, development, integration testing and documentation.

- Lead a development team to successful delivery by establishing and applying the necessary processes such as stand-up meetings, backlog grooming, code reviews.

- Establish and apply relevant KPIs for your team, and see to the maintenance of the appropriate quality standards.

- Work closely with Product, Delivery and Engineering leads to groom, estimate, implement and deliver the necessary product and technical improvements in our pipeline.

- Help guide Product ideas by providing technical assessment in feasibility as well as proposing alternative solutions and delivery estimations when necessary.

- Take ownership of the delivery of your team’s work. Communicate quickly and efficiently with the relevant stakeholders when commitments or expectations must change.

- Proactively identify and find ways of overcoming gaps in the process and tools used in our software delivery lifecycle.

- Act as a bridge between developers, QA engineers, Product and Project managers to facilitate the alignment of work.

- Mentor colleagues of all skill levels and roles, to help advance their technical abilities.

- Mentor less experienced engineers on your team on engineering excellence, including how to choose appropriate solutions, identify anti-patterns, being thorough and earnest in code reviews, the importance of good unit testing, the value of architectures that support maintenance and extensibility.

- Establish cross-team procedures to ensure software is appropriately documented for other engineers as well as for other areas of the organization.

- Perform root cause analysis on software defects, and apply the necessary measures to prevent issues from happening again.

- Guide the investigation and necessary fixing during production incidents, keeping the necessary stakeholders informed.

- Keep track of the career paths of the engineers in your team, and work with Engineering management to ensure the organization is set to support those plans.

- Carry yearly performance reviews of the engineers in your team, making sure to provide valuable feedback to enrich their technical and professional profiles.

 

- Working knowledge of web applications and online software fundamentals.

- Experience leading engineering teams, working within agile methodologies.

- Thorough knowledge of Python/Django, and Javascript/Vue js or similar framework. 

- Knowledge of modern, responsive UI design, and fundamentals of usability.

- Knowledge of relational and non-relational storage fundamentals.

- Working experience on high-traffic website, leveraging techniques to enable performance, caching, security and monitoring.

- Experience profiling and optimizing hotspots on web applications across the entire stack.

- Experience using distributed version control software such as git.

- Experience working within commercial cloud environments.

- Working knowledge of Docker and containerization technologies.

- Ability to work remotely in a distributed team.

- Exceptional written and spoken English skills.

- University degree in Computer Science or related area, or equivalent experience.

- 5+ years of experience as a professional software engineer building online software. Strong knowledge of website usability and web application architectures.

- 5+ years of professional Python experience in a web application context.

- 3+ years of experience in an Engineering Tech Lead or Team Lead position.

- Knowledge of relational and non-relational storage foundations and their tradeoffs.

- Working knowledge of modern security fundamentals and best practices.

- Great understanding of agile methodologies in a Kanban delivery environment.

- Experience working with a remote, distributed team.
