  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, machining, coatings, and assembly.
  • Experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines, as well as inspection techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control and quality analysis tools.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or quality software systems such as Minitab and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to suppliers, customers, or other company sites as required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, procedures, and metrics for gate manufacturing and water control systems.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Establish and maintain control plans, process documentation, and inspection criteria to support consistent product quality.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance data, identify trends, and implement solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Lead investigations of nonconformities, customer complaints, and internal quality concerns using structured problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and DMAIC.
  • Coordinate and document corrective and preventive actions to address quality issues and ensure long-term resolution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements that enhance production efficiency and product reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements, including ISO 9001 and American Water Works Association standards.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for quality audits and customer approvals.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and complete documentation.
  • Work with suppliers to establish quality expectations and resolve issues with incoming materials.
  • Perform supplier audits and assessments to ensure consistent material quality and compliance.
  • Train production and inspection personnel on quality procedures and standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve process capability, and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to support operational excellence.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with AWWA standards and specifications for gates, valves, and water control structures.
  • Certified Quality Engineer certification or progress toward certification.
  • Certified Welding Inspection certification.
  • ASQ or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience in custom, project-based, or job-shop manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of statistical process control, measurement systems analysis, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma tools.
  • Familiarity with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, statistical process control, and root-cause analysis tools.
