Requirements
- Fluency in both Mandarin and English is required.
- Experience supporting English Language Learners or multilingual students.
- A strong background in English language development, foundational literacy, and academic language instruction.
- Experience teaching foundational math concepts while providing language supports.
- Skill in developing English vocabulary, reading comprehension, written communication, and language acquisition.
- Experience supporting students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges.
- Ability to scaffold instruction for students with limited English proficiency.
- Comfort using visual supports, modeling, repetition, and multisensory instructional strategies.
- Lesson-planning skills and the ability to differentiate instruction based on language proficiency and academic needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one instruction to strengthen English language development, including vocabulary, reading comprehension, and expressive and receptive language skills.
- Teach foundational literacy skills through explicit instruction in phonics, reading fluency, comprehension, and English sentence development.
- Support writing development by teaching grammar, organization, sentence structure, and written communication skills.
- Reinforce foundational math concepts while providing appropriate language supports to ensure understanding.
- Use Mandarin strategically to clarify concepts, bridge understanding, and support English language acquisition when appropriate.
- Teach executive functioning skills, including organization, planning, time management, self-monitoring, and task completion strategies.
- Integrate Social-Emotional Learning into instruction by promoting self-confidence, resilience, communication, and self-advocacy.
- Use visual supports, repetition, modeling, and structured practice to reinforce academic and language skills.
- Monitor academic and language progress and adjust instruction based on student performance and language development.
- Create a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment that encourages active participation and long-term academic success.
- Provide personalized one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes, including support with daily activities, moral support, and tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan.
