Requirements
- An earned doctorate or terminal degree, specifically a PhD or DNP, from an accredited institution is required.
- Three to five years of successful college teaching experience are required for Assistant Professor.
- Five to eight years of successful college teaching experience are required for Associate Professor.
- Eight or more years of successful college teaching experience are required for Professor.
- BLS certification is required.
- A license to practice nursing in the State of Texas is required.
- Applicants must demonstrate ability in the discipline and clear promise of teaching excellence, as evidenced by evaluations from peers, the department head, and the college dean.
- Applicants must demonstrate continuing scholarly contribution beyond that required for completion of the terminal degree.
- Applicants must document yearly progress of professional achievement in teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Applicants must submit a completed online application, cover letter or letter of interest, resume or curriculum vitae, three professional references with complete contact information, and unofficial transcripts.
- Official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution before a letter of appointment is issued.
- Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon verification of credentials and other information required by institutional procedures.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and review effective teaching and learning processes using appropriate methodology, technology, and other tools.
- Remain current in the discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current student knowledge.
- Develop an ongoing evaluation system for teaching and learning, including student competency expectations and student learning outcomes.
- Partner with the immediate supervisor through formal instructional evaluation to identify strengths and weaknesses and professional development activities that improve student learning.
- Teach at other campuses or online as assigned.
- Maintain an appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry.
- Partner with student success personnel on student advising and orientation.
- Participate in institutional service roles, including college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student and faculty recruitment, and mentoring new and part-time faculty.
- Demonstrate ongoing research, scholarship, or creative activity appropriate to the academic discipline.
- Travel as required to support and serve all Tarleton locations and teach at various campus locations or through approved instructional modalities.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority.
