Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program, plus four years of job-related experience or 60 college hours, or a combination of the two.
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute or 70 keystrokes per minute.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and standard word-processing software.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees and the general public.
  • Ability to work with juveniles who may have committed dangerous or aggressive acts and a high tolerance for an emotionally demanding and stressful work environment, when assigned to the Juvenile Department.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods and lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Successful completion of one or more position-specific clerical, administrative, or secretarial skills tests, which may include 10-key, coding, data entry, filing, grammar, mathematics, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, proofreading, spelling, sorting, or timed typing.
Responsibilities
  • Perform complex support tasks for judges, managers, or supervisors, including preparing, processing, and reconciling documents and records.
  • Research and resolve problems, issues, exceptions, and discrepancies.
  • Balance and monitor accounts and interact effectively with the public.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and team leader by providing guidance and training to staff and others.
  • Develop policies and procedures, coordinate and monitor tasks, update and train staff on policies and procedures, and prepare training materials and aids.
  • Prepare routine correspondence, complete forms and other documents, and serve as a liaison to other departments and the public.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data to respond to inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collect, input, and reconcile data, funds, or inventories and prepare reports.
  • Verify the accuracy of information, policies and procedures, and accounts to ensure follow-through and compliance with applicable County, State, and Federal statutes.
  • Use department-specific and county-wide specialized and general computer systems for data input, retrieval, purchasing, inventory, and related activities.
  • Provide routine computer support, including accessing data, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, generating and maintaining reports and schedules, training clerical staff on computer applications, resolving routine problems, and coordinating with Information Technology services.
  • Stay current with changes in laws, policies, and procedures affecting the section and review section materials to ensure those changes are reflected.
  • Assist with employee-related issues, including participating in interviews, maintaining time and attendance data, reconciling payroll-related issues, coordinating leave activities, and ensuring employees receive appropriate training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
