Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or surgical technology military program is required.
  • At least two years of work experience in an operating room setting is required.
  • The Level II practitioner must demonstrate a higher level of critical-thinking and problem-solving skills and meet the Level I Certified Surgical Technologist CVOR criteria.
  • Credentialing as a Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting is required and must be maintained.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification or American Red Cross Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
  • The employee must be able to perform the stated standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, visual, hearing, sensory, physical, shift, overtime, and respirator-related job functions.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare sterile supplies and equipment used in surgical procedures according to established procedural guides.
  • Perform appropriate operating-room duties involved with direct patient care.
  • Function autonomously as a member of the operating-room team.
  • Provide care and service appropriate to patients' level of development while considering the needs of patients' families.
