Requirements
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification or experience as a caregiver.
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development credential.
  • Required First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification.
  • Basic reading and writing skills and the ability to speak English.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to promote a positive working environment and encourage teamwork.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with all assigned areas of care in partnership with the health services team and under the direction of the Director of Assisted Living or designee.
  • Adhere to and convey the person-centered care and Genuine Hospitality philosophy.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty.
  • Wear a name tag and uniform and follow the cell phone policy.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled according to community policies and procedures.
  • Receive reports from the previous shift and review care staff assignments and end-of-shift reports for information and changes before providing resident care.
  • Document care provided through CareStream in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Provide a report to the oncoming shift and document the end-of-shift report and CareStream entries before leaving the shift.
  • Complete incident reports when needed.
  • Sign out and carry equipment such as a radio, tablet, and keys at the beginning of the shift.
  • Answer resident call lights, doors, and resident alarms promptly.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living while encouraging and promoting self-care to the extent possible.
  • Encourage and assist residents with individual and group program activities.
  • Assist residents with meals, housekeeping, and laundry services as needed, requested, or assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Provide high-quality resident care and recommend ways to improve quality.
  • Observe changes in residents’ physical or mental status and communicate them to the Director of Assisted Living, licensed vocational nurse/licensed practical nurse, or manager on duty.
  • Respond promptly to resident, staff, and visitor emergencies and follow applicable policies and procedures.
  • Follow infection-control policies and procedures.
  • Follow fire, missing-resident, and other emergency procedures detailed in community fire and disaster plans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information.
  • Attend and participate in assigned training and team meetings.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
