Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in political science, public relations, communications, or a related field is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or advocacy is required.
  • A proven track record of successful legislative and regulatory advocacy is required.
  • A strong network of contacts within government and industry is required.
  • An in-depth understanding of the legislative and regulatory process in New Hampshire is required.
  • An advanced degree in public policy, law, government, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in healthcare government relations is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Work with the Elliot Health System Senior Leadership Team to identify priorities and develop and implement a comprehensive government-relations strategy.
  • Monitor internal and external environments to identify policy issues and opportunities affecting the system’s profile, reputation, and strategic objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials at the state, county, and municipal levels, and represent the organization on relevant committees, task forces, and initiatives.
  • Organize and participate in meetings, hearings, and events with government representatives.
  • Manage Elliot Health System’s Chamber memberships, support active participation, and facilitate information sharing between Chambers and system leaders.
  • Engage community stakeholders through Chamber events and reinforce Elliot Health System’s role as a community leader and trusted partner.
  • Develop and manage relationships with industry coalitions, trade associations, and advocacy groups.
  • Educate internal audiences on legislative issues at the federal, state, county, and municipal levels.
  • Facilitate discussions on policy topics.
  • Develop written materials, including policy reports and organizational comments and statements for the record responding to county, state, and federal policy issues.
  • Help develop and maintain an advocacy network.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on public policy and governmental matters.
  • Ensure compliance with lobbying laws and regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism and represent Elliot Health System positively in all interactions.
