Intercontinental Exchange

View

Intercontinental Exchange runs financial marketplaces, clearing houses and data services for banks, investors and businesses that trade or finance assets. Its New York Stock Exchange lets companies raise capital and gives investors a place to buy and sell listed shares. ICE also sells market pricing and analytics, while its mortgage software supports lenders from loan applications through closing and servicing. Trading fees, listing fees and subscriptions pay for these services, and clearing houses manage the risk that one side of a trade fails to pay. Founded in 2000 to digitize energy trading, Intercontinental Exchange is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

What believers are saying

  • Subscriptions support stability: ICE reported 51% recurring net revenue for 2025 in February 2026.
  • Employees get matched charitable giving: ICE matches eligible donations dollar for dollar up to $5,000 yearly.
  • Mortgage customers stay: Wells Fargo renewed its ICE servicing agreement in September 2026 after more than 35 years.

What critics are saying

  • Housing slowdowns hit mortgage fees: ICE earns transaction revenue per processed loan, and reduced lending has hurt receipts.
  • Clearing puts ICE capital at risk: over $200 million of its own money backs protection against member defaults.
  • Office attendance matters for data leaders: ICE's exchange content strategy manager role is designated in-office across four US locations.

What makes Intercontinental Exchange unique

  • Brent settlement follows physical oil: ICE uses published North Sea cargo trades and assessments to set its final price.
  • ICE prices assets without a trade: independent securities evaluations combine comparable quotes, yield curves and valuation models.
  • Mortgage ownership records run through ICE: its MERS system and electronic registry connect lenders beyond loan origination.

NYSE owner ICE takes stake in Trade.xyz to plan regulated US perpetual futures market

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), parent of the New York Stock Exchange, plans to take an equity stake in Trade.xyz to launch a regulated US perpetual futures market, Bloomberg reported. Financial terms have not been disclosed. The exchange would run on Hyperliquid infrastructure, with its own clearing system, anti-money laundering controls, and know-your-customer checks. It needs regulatory approval before launch. Contracts would track individual stocks, equity indexes, commodities, and foreign exchange rates. Unlike standard futures, perpetual futures have no expiry date. Hyperliquid operates outside the US, so the deal could give Trade.xyz a path to the US market. Trade.xyz and Hyperliquid have also lobbied regulators to allow perpetual futures tied to companies before their public listings.

NYSE owner ICE partners with TradeXYZ to bring Hyperliquid perpetual futures to US, HYPE jumps 15%

Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the parent of the New York Stock Exchange, is partnering with TradeXYZ to bring perpetual futures markets built on Hyperliquid to the US. ICE will also make a strategic investment in TradeXYZ. ICE will operate the markets and build exchange and clearing infrastructure for perpetual contracts linked to cryptocurrencies, stocks, indices, commodities, and foreign exchange. Hyperliquid will supply the technology through its HIP-3 framework, and TradeXYZ will design the markets. "We've seen a clear increase in retail participation in markets, and that participation is becoming far more global," chief executive officer Jeffrey Sprecher said. In May, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued a staff advisory and no-action relief for the products. Hyperliquid's HYPE token rose 15% on Thursday to over $92.

Space Intelligence secures Series A funding to expand forest mapping dataset to 35+ countries

Space Intelligence has completed its Series A funding round, led by AzurX Space Ventures with participation from Intercontinental Exchange. The Edinburgh-based company uses satellite data for high-precision nature mapping. The funds will expand Space Intelligence's forest mapping database to support forest carbon projects and monitor environmental impacts across supply chains. The company currently covers 640 million hectares across seven countries. By Q2 2025, Space Intelligence plans to expand coverage to over 35 additional countries, creating what it claims will be the largest audit-grade nature mapping dataset available. New data products enabling near real-time deforestation monitoring are scheduled for Q4 this year. Founded by Dr Murray Collins and Professor Ed Mitchard, the company has grown to over 50 staff, including 20 mapping scientists and ecologists.
