Teledyne to acquire X-ray technology firm Varex Imaging for $1.1B

Teledyne Technologies will acquire Varex Imaging Corporation for $18.90 per share in cash, valuing the transaction at approximately $1.1 billion, including Varex's equity awards and net debt as of 3 April 2026. Both companies' boards unanimously approved the deal. Varex develops X-ray sources, digital X-ray detectors, high-voltage interconnects, and imaging software for medical diagnostic imaging, non-destructive inspection, security systems, and analysis applications. Teledyne Executive Chairman Robert Mehrabian noted the companies serve similar customers with complementary technologies and minimal overlap. Varex produces detectors for high-radiation environments and advanced photon counting detectors, whilst Teledyne has never manufactured X-ray tubes for radiography, fluoroscopy, or computed tomography. Varex CEO Sunny Sanyal said the acquisition provides substantial premium for shareholders and opportunities for customers and employees across medical and industrial markets.

Teledyne leads industrials with 12.8% growth as Blink and Ducommun struggle

Teledyne stands out among industrials stocks despite the sector's sluggish performance, according to StockStory's latest analysis. The digital imaging and instrumentation provider achieved 12.8% annual revenue growth over five years, demonstrating strong market share gains. The company boasts an impressive 17.9% operating margin, with profits rising alongside expansion. Its free cash flow margin jumped 11.1 percentage points over five years, providing additional resources for growth. The industrials sector has underperformed recently, returning just 1.2% over six months compared to the S&P 500's 8.3% gain. The sector remains vulnerable to economic fluctuations due to its dependence on physical infrastructure across automotive, housing, and e-commerce industries. Teledyne, which historically contributed to ocean floor mapping, trades at a market capitalisation of $30.39 billion.

Teledyne HiRel introduces high-efficiency isolated gan gate driver.

Teledyne HiRel introduces high-efficiency isolated gan gate driver. Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors has announced the TDGD85110EP. This device is a sophisticated, isolated, single-channel gate driver that has been designed especially for easy work with gallium nitride transistors. The company is a division of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated and possesses more than a decade of experience in gallium nitride technology with applications in aerospace, defense, space, and other industrial segments. Today, the world of power systems undergoes changes very quickly. Every engineer and designer tries to increase efficiency and power density of circuits and decrease their size and weight. That is why the transition to gallium nitride technology is happening now rather quickly. These transistors have higher frequency of switching, and that is why engineers can use smaller magnetic components. But, on the other hand, it gives another challenge for the gate driver performance. The new gate driver from Teledyne solves this exact challenge. It combines signal isolation and an isolated bias supply directly into one compact device. By doing this, it removes the need for bulky external secondary-side bias supplies or complicated high-side bootstrap circuits. For system designers, this means fewer overall components, a much simpler circuit layout, and a more efficient final product. These benefits are especially valuable for applications such as AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, battery management systems, motor drives, fast-charging infrastructure, uninterruptible power supplies, and demanding aerospace and defense power architectures. The management at Teledyne recognizes that the TDGD85110EP integrates all the key functionalities necessary for a gate drive into one single component. Such an approach not only helps the customers adopt the gallium nitride technology quickly but also simplifies the system design. Through the combination of both isolation and bias functionality, the component enables users to fully benefit from gallium nitride's efficiency and high-power density. Key technical features. Here are some specifications of the TDGD85110EP that make it ideal for difficult conditions: * Strong Isolation: This includes the isolation of 5 kV RMS galvanic isolation to safeguard sensitive circuits and to operate safely. * Excellent Noise Immunity: It offers more than 100 V/ns common-mode transient immunity. * Quick Response Time: This component has a quick response time of 50 ns. * Versatile Voltage Compatibility: It can be used for voltages higher than 10 V and 6 V easily. * Thorough Testing: All units have been tested for AC and DC at three different temperature extremes. * Broad Operating Range: It has been qualified for operation between -55°C and +125°C. Availability and support. No waiting period is necessary in order for engineers to begin using the new component because the TDGD85110EP is currently available. In order to help customers accelerate the development process and make it easier to integrate into current projects, Teledyne supplies all the evaluation hardware, design software, and applications support necessary.

Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors introduces isolated GaN gate driver for high-efficiency power conversion systems.

Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors introduces isolated GaN gate driver for high-efficiency power conversion systems. July 29, 2026 Integrated bias supply simplifies GaN power designs and eliminates bootstrap circuitry GARLAND, Texas - July 29, 2026 - Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors, a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated and a leading supplier of high-reliability semiconductor solutions, with more than a decade of experience in gallium nitride (GaN) for aerospace, defense, space and industrial applications, today announced the release of the TDGD85110EP, an isolated, single-channel gate driver that simplifies the implementation of GaN transistors in high-performance power conversion systems. As power systems evolve toward higher efficiency, greater power density and smaller size and weight, designers are increasingly adopting GaN technology, whose higher switching frequencies shrink magnetic components but raise the bar for gate-drive performance. The TDGD85110EP meets that demand by integrating signal isolation and an isolated bias supply into a single compact device, eliminating the need for external secondary-side bias supplies or high-side bootstrap circuits. The result is a lower component count, simpler design and more efficient system to support applications such as ac-dc and dc-dc power supplies, battery management systems, motor drives, fast-charging infrastructure, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and aerospace and defense power systems. "The TDGD85110EP integrates key gate-drive functions into a single device, helping customers accelerate GaN adoption while reducing system complexity," said Mont Taylor, Vice President of Business Development at Teledyne HiRel Semiconductors. "By combining isolation and bias generation in a compact solution, the device enables designers to more fully realize the efficiency and power-density advantages of GaN technology." Key Features * 5 kV RMS galvanic isolation * Greater than 100 V/ns common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) * Fast 50 ns propagation delay * Supports high-voltage inputs greater than 10 V and low-voltage inputs greater than 6 V * 100% tested for ac and dc parameters across three temperatures * Qualified for operation from -55°C to +125°C Availability The TDGD85110EP is available now. Evaluation hardware, design tools and application support are available to help customers accelerate product development and integration. Contact Teledyne MEC Inc. for ordering information.
