Requirements
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and related tools and technology required for the position.
  • Senior Engineer experience with at least 10 years in the nuclear field.
  • A Master’s Degree, preferably with a technical engineering degree.
  • Management experience with nuclear work scopes at other Department of Energy or Department of Defense facilities.
  • Knowledge of processing spent nuclear fuel.
  • Knowledge of operational readiness preparations for startup of nuclear facilities.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Completion of required training, such as Hanford General Employee Training and Radiation Worker training, to access work areas as needed.
  • Work products must be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and compliant with established criteria.
  • Understanding and proficiency with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, data analytic tools, and Visio.
Responsibilities
  • Assess Hanford prime contractors’ technological approaches associated with project work scopes.
  • Review and evaluate design reports associated with waste site project work scopes.
  • Review and evaluate design reports and Critical Decision packages associated with project capital asset work scopes.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate baseline schedules and costs associated with project work scopes.
  • Review and evaluate technical and regulatory issues associated with project work scopes.
  • Review and evaluate risks associated with project work scopes.
  • Track and analyze contractor risk identification and mitigations, and provide results to the project risk analyst for Risk Report updates.
  • Provide insight and expertise on the Project Execution Plan and Risk Management Plan.
  • Support development of the Department of Energy Independent Government Estimate in the Hanford Life Cycle Baseline schedule.
  • Assist with development of the resource-loaded, logic-driven lifecycle schedule.
  • Provide routine reports documenting oversight of field activities.
  • Provide oversight of system and component testing, including developmental, acceptance, and qualification testing, commissioning, and operational readiness preparations.
  • Assist with technical validation reviews of project milestone completion requests.
  • Objectively assess technologies and determine associated technology readiness levels.
  • Coordinate technology readiness preparations for critical decisions of a nuclear project under DOE Order 413.3B.
  • Provide status reports of contractor performance to the responsible Project Lead and Federal Project Director.
