Crash Bandicoot Fortnite skin and Spyro the Dragon Sidekick revealed. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are coming to Fortnite Override. Get a first look at Crash's retro skin and the Spyro Sidekick. August 24, 2026, 8:47pm Epic Games has just revealed the Crash Bandicoot Fortnite skin, as well as the Spyro the Dragon Sidekick. The two gaming legends will be coming to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override in a future update. Here is a first look at the Crash Bandicoot skin and its retro edit style. Crash Bandicoot Fortnite skin first look\. When the Fortnite Override trailer was released last week, one of the gaming legends featured in it was Crash Bandicoot. However, up until now, Wilfrid Wood didn't know what the iconic character's skin would look like in the battle royale. Well, the wait is over, as Epic Games has just released a teaser video showcasing the Crash Bandicoot cosmetic. The Crash Bandicoot Fortnite skin will also have a polygon edit style, which makes the character look like he jumped straight out of the original 1996 PlayStation game. For your convenience, Wilfrid Wood has posted two HD images below showing what the Crash Bandicoot skin will look like in-game: Crash Bandicoot (skin). Crash Bandicoot (retro edit style). When is Crash Bandicoot coming to Fortnite Override? At the time of writing, Wilfrid Wood do not have a Crash Bandicoot Fortnite skin release date. Interestingly, Epic Games released a teaser trailer revealing the PlayStation mascot's cosmetic outfit, but it didn't include a release date or even a potential launch window. So far, it appears that Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is getting roughly one Gaming Legends collab a week. Based on the current schedule, Wilfrid Wood could potentially see Crash Bandicoot arriving in the Fortnite Item Shop either this Saturday, August 29, or sometime next week. However, this is just speculation for now, and Wilfrid Wood will update this article as soon as Epic Games confirms an official Crash Bandicoot release date. Fortnite Spyro the Dragon Sidekick revealed. A Spyro the Dragon Fortnite Sidekick was also revealed alongside the Crash Bandicoot skin. In the teaser video, Wilfrid Wood see the iconic purple dragon sneezing before breathing out a fireball. The Spyro companion will also have an edit style that changes his color scheme to blue. Unlike the Crash Bandicoot outfit, it looks like the Spyro the Dragon Sidekick does not have a retro style. Instead, the Fortnite Override companion appears to be based on the modern design featured in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy remasters released in 2018. Spyro the Dragon blue edit style. Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are coming to Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4. While Epic Games hasn't revealed when Crash Bandicoot and Spyro will actually be released, Wilfrid Wood now have its first official look at both cosmetics in Chapter 7 Season 4. With Crash getting both a modern skin and a retro polygon style, longtime PlayStation fans should have plenty to look forward to when the gaming icon finally arrives in the Item Shop. For now, Wilfrid Wood will have to wait for Epic Games to confirm the Crash Bandicoot skin release date and when the Spyro Sidekick will become available in Fortnite Override.
Newzoo analyst says Epic Games Store may not recover against Steam despite 57% growth to $400 million. Epic Games Store's future is being debated after a Newzoo analyst questioned its ability to compete with Steam, prompting Epic Games to challenge the assessment All content is independently fact-checked & reviewed - its editorial standards Epic Games Store continues to expand its PC gaming catalog as the platform works to strengthen its position against Steam (Image via Epic Games). The future of the Epic Games Store has become the subject of a public debate after a Newzoo analyst said he did not see how the platform could recover against Steam. However, Epic Games has strongly disputed that view, pointing to record third-party spending and billions of hours played on its storefront during 2025. In an interview with PC Gamer, Newzoo Director of Market Intelligence Emmanuel Rosier argued that Steam had become too dominant. "I don't really see how they can turn that around," Rosier said, adding that Epic's free games strategy may encourage users to collect titles without necessarily playing them. Epic Games disputes the claim with record 2025 numbers. Epic Games Store Vice President and General Manager Martin Keely responded by highlighting the platform's growth. According to Keely, players spent a record 2.78 billion hours playing third-party games on the Epic Games Store in 2025, while third-party PC game spending increased 57% to $400 million. Epic's official 2025 Year in Review also reported that total player spending on PC reached $1.16 billion, up 6% year over year. The store recorded more than 317 million PC players and reached a record 78 million monthly active users in December 2025. Keely said, and argued that the platform's momentum would continue as Epic prepares to release an improved launcher. The situation became more complicated after Newzoo distanced itself from Rosier's assessment. The company said the remarks made in the PC Gamer interview and did not account for relevant public evidence. Newzoo added that Rosier's comments should not be treated as an official assessment of the Epic Games Store's market position. That distinction means the comments represented the analyst's personal view rather than Newzoo's broader institutional analysis. Rosier also argued that Epic may have stretched itself too thin by competing with Steam on PC while simultaneously fighting major battles against Apple and Google. He suggested that Epic's strongest area remains Fortnite, which he believes has become increasingly successful as a wider gaming platform. For Epic Games Store, the bigger question is whether record growth can eventually translate into a stronger competitive position against Steam. Epic is betting that a faster launcher, storefront improvements, and continued third-party growth will help, while Rosier remains skeptical that the platform can meaningfully close the gap. Fortnite fans are raising serious complaints about the presence of bots in Chapter 7 Season 4, with players finding that many lobbies in the new season have more bots than real players. The newest season of Fortnite officially launched on August 20. The launch of Chapter 7 Season 4 brought plenty of exciting new content to Epic Games' battle royale. The new Override season puts the focus on video game crossovers with a variety of iconic franchises, including skins based on Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, and Pac-Man. The season brought multiple new game-inspired weapons, including the Midas Masterpiece and the Mega Buster, with more iconic weapons coming later, such as the Kingdom Key from Kingdom Hearts and Rebecca's Guns from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. However, fans noticed one major issue with bots and in-game lobbies following the debut of Chapter 7 Season 4. Fortnite Players are fighting more bots than real players. Fortnite fan Au5la on Twitter shared some statistics about bots in the battle royale's newest season, noting a particular spike in Season 4. The post includes statistics collected by a Discord bot from previous seasons of Fortnite, which showed real player counts roughly between 58 and 65 in each match. Reports from a similar bot show significantly lower real player counts since the start of Fortnite's Chapter 7 Season 4, with some matches having as few as 25 out of the 100-player lobby. Many fans have already said that the overuse of bots in lobbies has made the game less fun, claiming to only be fighting real players near the end of matches. The use of bots in battle royale matches has been an ongoing issue for many fans of Fortnite. Players have often said that the experience of fighting bots in Fortnite does not compare to real players, feeling that the lower skill level of bots can negatively affect new players trying to improve at Fortnite. The game's matchmaking has been an ongoing complaint for disgruntled fans, feeling that the game's skill-based matchmaking is in need of a major overhaul rather than adding more bots into lower skill-level matches. The Ultimate PC Gaming Quiz Think you know PC gaming? Fortnite's new season brought plenty of new mechanics to the table to coincide with its video game theming. Epic Games introduced the Tetris Rift as a unique new item themed around the beloved puzzle game, creating Tetris blocks that players can use as cover and ends by granting an area-of-effect heal. The iconic Rings from Sonic the Hedgehog can also be found throughout the new Green Hill Zone POI, with rings granting players Overshield for collecting them and losing all of their bonus Overshield and Rings when being hit by an enemy. Override looks to have plenty on the way for fans throughout the season beyond its initial offerings. Fans have discovered a particularly noteworthy building under construction within the new map which bears a striking resemblance to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, suggesting that a Five Nights at Freddy's crossover may be coming soon. Fortnite is also expected to add its first collaboration with Persona 5 in September, likely debuting a skin based on Joker and rumored to be adding skins of Ryuji and Ann. Fortnite's Override season is off to an exciting start and looks primed to keep the momentum rolling. What is the rarest Sprite in Fortnite right now? Chapter 7 Season 4. Find out what the rarest Sprite in Fortnite is right now and see the five hardest variants to collect in Chapter 7 Season 4. August 21, 2026, 10:37am There are currently 22 Sprites that players can collect in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4. However, several of the new variants added with the launch of Fortnite Override have incredibly low drop rates. Here is the rarest Sprite in Fortnite right now and the five most difficult variants to obtain. What is the rarest Sprite in Fortnite right now? The rarest Sprite in Fortnite right now is technically the Gold Klombo Sprite Mythic. However, this question is a bit tricky to answer, as Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 arguably has three Sprites competing for the "rarest" top spot. First off, the Gold Klombo Sprite isn't technically unlockable yet. Epic Games has revealed that it will be adding Gold Sprites during a Gold Hours Power Hour event on Saturday, August 22. However, according to its confirmed stats, Gold Klombo has a 0.00001% chance of spawning, which makes it the rarest Sprite in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 so far. Until the Gold Klombo Sprite goes live, the Cheat Master Klombo Sprite and standard Klombo Sprite are currently the rarest variants that players can obtain. Both have extremely low drop rates, making Klombo the most difficult Sprite to find during a regular match. It could also be argued that the Fortnite Crown Sprite is the most difficult to obtain. Specifically, its Cheat Master Crown variant. The only way to get the Crown Sprite is to win a Victory Royale in Battle Royale mode. However, the Fortnite Crown Sprite will only level up if you win matches with it equipped. So, you essentially have to win two matches in a row without dying to get the Cheat Master Crown Sprite. Ouch. Top 5 rarest Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4. Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 launched with 22 Sprites. Out of the gate, the Klombo Sprite is the most difficult collectible to find in the Override season. Basically, Klombo is the new Zero Point Sprite of Chapter 7 Season 4. Expect it to remain one of the rarest collectibles throughout the entire Fortnite Override season, as all three of its variants have incredibly low drop rates. Here are the five rarest Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: * Gold Klombo Sprite (releasing August 22) * Cheat Master Klombo Sprite * Klombo Sprite * Cheat Master Crown Sprite * Cheat Master Jackrabbit Sprite The above ranking is based on reported drop rates and each Sprite's unlock requirements. However, as of August 21, the Cheat Master Klombo Sprite and standard Klombo Sprite are the two rarest variants that players can currently obtain. The Gold Klombo Sprite will take the top spot once it officially goes live during Gold Hours on August 22.
Former Epic Games leader Ben Board joins CodeDev Group as CEO of The Performance Guys. The Performance Guys focuses on performance optimisation across game engines August 21, 2026 * Board spent nearly nine years at Epic Games managing the Unreal Engine games business in the UK and Europe. * He has nearly 30 years of experience across studios, platforms and game development companies. * CodeDev Group now has more than 60 senior specialists across its three divisions. CodeDev Group has appointed former Epic Games leader Ben Board as CEO of its optimisation division, The Performance Guys. Board enters his 30th year in the games industry after spending nearly nine years at Epic Games, where he managed the Unreal Engine games business in the UK and later across Europe during Fortnite's global explosion. In his new role, Board will lead The Performance Guys, which focuses on performance optimisation across game engines and launched in June. He will also join CodeDev Group's senior leadership team alongside CEO Myke Parrot, COO Andy Norman and Chair Rik Alexander. His career highlights include writing gameplay for Bullfrog Productions on Theme Park World, leading the scripting team on Lionhead's original Fable, running product teams at BossAlien on CSR Racing, and managing technical developer relations for Microsoft Xbox 360. Performance focus The appointment comes as CodeDev Group scales its three divisions: The Unreal Guys, The Performance Guys and Full Spectrum Interactive. The group has more than 60 senior specialists across the divisions. Board said poor performance is widespread across games and can have an existential impact, while strong optimisation skills remain uncommon even among large studios. "I've seen time and again that poor performance is everywhere and its impact can be existential, but great optimisation skills are not common, even at big studios," said Board. He added: "Optimisation is The Performance Guys craft, but that's not an end in itself - what the client is really asking us to add to their product is quality. Faster frames make better games, and help scores and sales." CodeDev Group CEO Myke Parrot commented: "Bringing Ben in as CEO of The Performance Guys sends an unmistakable message to the market: if your game has a performance problem on any engine, we have the best team on the planet to fix it."
