Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or two years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant certifications and/or proficiencies may be required, with a target completion within 90 days following formal training.
  • Foundational experience analyzing business needs, documenting functional specifications, and aligning them with technical solutions.
  • Ability to use process maps, workflow diagrams, and data analytics to support system design, training, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and test systems and identify potential issues.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to other West Virginia University Health System facilities or affiliated sites for implementations, training, and support when required.
Responsibilities
  • Support the design, implementation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of software systems.
  • Assist with system modifications, implementation, testing, error correction, user security management, data import/export, and basic reporting.
  • Translate clinical and operational requirements into system requirements, workflows, and testing scenarios.
  • Support configuration, testing, implementation, and optimization of Utilization Management and Pharmacy workflows, including prior authorization, medical necessity review, and clinical determinations.
  • Serve as an IT liaison to Utilization Management, Pharmacy, Medical Management, and other clinical health plan teams.
  • Support Epic Tapestry and integrated vendor solutions related to medical and pharmacy management.
  • Support clinical workflows involving prior authorization, appeals and grievances, pharmacy management, and utilization review.
  • Assist with implementation of CMS, NCQA, Medicare Advantage, D-SNP, ACA, and other payer regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in end-to-end testing and issue resolution across authorization, benefits, claims, pharmacy, and related clinical workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate clinical health plan workflows through technology.
  • Provide classroom, one-on-one, and remediation training and ongoing systems support to end users.
  • Assess user readiness and abilities and identify additional training needs.
  • Contribute to curriculum and training-material development.
  • Help define project scope, deliverables, schedules, milestones, risks, mitigation plans, and contingency measures.
  • Coordinate project activities and communication among team members, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, plans, reports, status updates, meeting notes, and action items.
  • Participate in continuous learning, basic training, workshops, research, knowledge sharing, and process discussions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with applicable business, clinical, imaging, or web application systems, including advanced workflows.
  • Proficiency in systems administration and providing strategic insights and improvements to business operations.
  • Experience in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings and advanced system implementations.
  • Understanding of clinical data management and healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7, FHIR, and DICOM.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based healthcare applications and web services.
  • Knowledge of reporting tools, data analysis, and reporting capabilities.
  • Clinical background or licensure such as RN, LPN, PharmD/RPh, or Pharmacy Technician, or comparable clinical experience.
  • Experience with Utilization Management, Pharmacy, prior authorization, Medical Management, managed care operations, health plans, payers, PBMs, or comparable organizations.
  • Experience with Epic Tapestry or comparable payer technology.
  • Working knowledge of health plan concepts, including benefits, claims, authorizations, medical necessity, and pharmacy benefits.
  • Ability to translate clinical and operational needs into technical requirements and communicate between clinical, operational, and IT teams.
