Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Three years of progressive fundraising, customer relations, marketing, or sales and promotions experience in a team environment.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer experience with a Windows environment.
  • Experience developing complex engagement journeys involving email, landing pages, forms or surveys, text, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Experience with an enterprise-grade marketing automation system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set schedules and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for marketing automation and digital cultivation strategies across the School of Medicine and Duke University Health System.
  • Design and execute complex, data-driven email cultivation journeys.
  • Create landing pages, emails, and forms to support personalized grateful patient relationships.
  • Manage the Eloqua email marketing automation platform and ensure workflows integrate with Salesforce, G2G, and Duke MyGifts.
  • Maintain data quality and integration workflows.
  • Manage patient audience data segments and automated campaigns while overseeing appropriate use of data.
  • Troubleshoot platform issues with system administrators.
  • Develop and execute A/B testing strategies to optimize audience engagement, conversion rates, and fundraising outcomes.
  • Support testing, optimization, and reporting.
  • Support the Honor Your Care Team program through webpage management, email cultivation journeys, and e-newsletters.
  • Plan and establish goals aligned with organizational direction and objectives.
  • Generate solicitation content for mail, email, text, websites, and social media channels.
  • Use donor and patient stories in communications while ensuring HIPAA standards are met.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop and distribute internal content through the Duke Health intranet and other communication channels.
  • Develop techniques to increase grateful patient engagement, including do-it-yourself and honor or memorial peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Coordinate with Prospect Management and frontline fundraising teams to identify, qualify, and route responsive grateful patient prospects.
  • Coordinate with the Data Analytics Specialist to manage grateful patient segmentation.
  • Use metrics such as dollars raised, response rates, click-through rates, and return on investment to measure digital acquisition effectiveness.
  • Maintain tracking, acknowledgment, and follow-up for grateful patient gifts.
  • Use engagement data and audience insights to improve digital cultivation strategies.
  • Determine fiscal requirements, prepare budget recommendations, and monitor, verify, and reconcile budgeted expenditures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Travel occasionally.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience managing donor-centric digital campaigns.
  • Healthcare philanthropy experience.
  • Experience with Eloqua and Salesforce.
  • Eloqua certification or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Knowledge of modern HTML, CSS, and applicable design skills for electronic messaging.
  • Familiarity with JavaScript.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Knowledge of educational fundraising, higher education issues, research universities, and Duke University.
