- Apply leadership skills, coordinate care within the multidisciplinary team, communicate professionally, and verbalize the scope of practice for self and others.
- Perform patient assessment and interventions, including medical asepsis, physical assessment, monitoring, pain management, reporting, therapeutic interventions, medication administration, intravenous line management, plan-of-care evaluation and revision, procedures, and use of medical technology.
- Organize a multitask workload, manage personal and organizational resources, accept assignment changes, use supplies appropriately, and request assistance appropriately.
- Demonstrate unit-specific skills for the assigned service area and age-specific patient populations.
- Develop and maintain caring relationships, adapt care for diverse populations, assist colleagues with care delivery, and refer concerns to the appropriate resource.
- Participate in continuing and mandatory education, document attendance, complete annual reviews and required training, renew Basic Life Support certification, and attend or retrieve information from unit staff meetings.
- Communicate accurately and promptly with patients, team members, and management; report pertinent data; complete forms and charting; protect confidentiality; and read relevant communications.
- Identify and apply age-specific safety needs during disasters and evacuations, patient transfers, security-risk mitigation, use of restraints or immobilization devices, and equipment use.
- Meet hospital standards for telephone etiquette, customer service, professional comportment, interdepartmental relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient and provider rights, reporting mechanisms, quality improvement, and the Code of Conduct.
- A minimum of one year of Operating Room experience is preferred.
