Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • A minimum of 12 years of internal audit experience, including experience auditing financial institutions.
  • A minimum of 5 years of leadership and management experience, including recent experience supervising the audit function.
  • Expert knowledge of internal auditing standards, processes, controls, and audit techniques.
  • Expert knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards for financial reporting and advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Advanced knowledge of lending and credit management.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations regarding credit extension.
  • Expert knowledge of auditing techniques that leverage data analytics.
  • Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee execution of the vision for Audit Services, including annual planning, risk assessment, scoping, management action plans, and validation of issue closure.
  • Establish, oversee implementation of, and monitor an internal review and audit program covering the organization’s internal control system, including credit, financial services, financial operations, and administrative functions.
  • Oversee and evaluate the organization’s system of internal controls and determine compliance with policies and procedures and regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Act as the main contact and relationship manager for outside regulators and auditors to facilitate and expedite external audits, excluding the financial statement audit.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with leaders across the organization, especially within Credit and Risk Management and Enterprise Financial Management, while maintaining audit independence and objectivity, including active participation in management committees.
  • Select, motivate, develop, evaluate, and reward team members, maintaining a positive work environment, a high-performing team, and developing leaders to achieve organizational and team goals.
  • Meet regularly with the Audit & Finance Committee to report the status of ongoing monitoring activities, educate and inform the committee about emerging risks and exposures, and serve as a thought leader regarding risk management and internal control best practices.
  • Provide the Audit & Finance Committee and the Board with written and verbal reports on performance to standards and compliance with Farm Credit Administration, AgriBank, and Compeer policies, procedures, and regulations, and propose remedial actions to mitigate risk.
  • Provide auditing guidance to leadership and the Audit & Finance Committee in evaluating the effectiveness of organizational control systems.
  • Oversee identification of internal control gaps in business procedures, processes, or systems and provide recommendations for appropriate remedial action.
  • Serve as the primary Compeer audit contact for the Farm Credit Administration, AgriBank, and other regulatory bodies.
Desired Qualifications

  • Audit designations such as Certified Public Accountant or Certified Internal Auditor.
  • Experience in the agriculture industry.

Insurers offer discounts for avoiding smoking and good driving because these practices are proven to mitigate risk and save them money. So should insurers and agricultural lenders offer farmers that look after their soil a ‘good soil discount’?. While it’s generally understood that cover cropping, reduced tillage, and crop rotations benefit soil, these practices are by no means ubiquitous, not least because there are high upfront costs, the benefits don’t come overnight, and there are no immediate financial incentives, says soil health nonprofit Land Core. Insurers and lenders, meanwhile, do not currently offer discounts for farmers engaging in such practices because their specific impacts at the field level, especially on crop yields, have not been quantified, it says. Until now
